Someone mugging you on the street has at least enough courtesy to just take your money and be done with it.

When getting "treated" for any ailment in the US they might take your house and bankrupt you.

Buying a gun to protect yourself from a mugging is also pretty cheap by comparison to health insurance that rivals mortgage payments.

You probably don't know this, but there are programs for the "less well-off" including Medicaid in the US. Any person can walk into any hospital in the US and must be treated regardless of ability to pay. The homeless person who (intentionally in many cases now) gets hit by a car, gets the same ambulance ride to the hospital, same care, same food, same drugs, etc. as an insured.

Yes, where I live in .The county hospital has to take. But that comes at a high price. The hospital charges you for. I'm sure most homeless or poor people can't afford.

While the American people are being bombarded with pro "Medicare for All" propaganda from exuberant democrats and buying into it (until they realize the price tag will double their taxes), the potential disaster of such an expensive system is being glossed over.

We have way too many people in America riding in the cart and not enough people pulling the cart. For those of us who are pulling the cart, be ready to pay up for this system!

You’re already paying for the consequences of people not having access to healthcare. Why not have a more efficient system, which can be done through universal care.

I'm guessing tax payers. But before the poor, with out children was able to get medical. If the hospital bill didn't get paid. It went into collections. And screwed up your credit. Personally I believe able body people on medical or government assistance. Should have put hours of working for the county. To pay for their insurance or food stamps.

Other insured people. Other taxpayers. Universal coverage would encourage early primary care. Many ER and inpatient episodes could be prevented by primary care being accessible to everyone.

If life expectancy is a reliable indicator of how well a health service is performing, then I would say that countries such as Canada, the UK, Australia, Scandinavia, and many other countries that implement universal healthcare are performing very well.

And for the UK that's despite us hard drinking Scots pulling down the average life expectancy of the whole country!

How much did you pay I. Health insurance premiums? What about combined with tax

My medical insurance premiums alone cost me over $6,000 (USD). That's about $8,000 Canadian. And that's just my portion, not my employer's portion of what they paid for my insurance. And that doesn't include what I paid in co-pays, etc. (another $1,000 or so). Then my taxes on top of that.

We're already paying more for the private health insurance system and we're still paying for those "riding in the cart". Universal health care would be far less expensive, especially for those of us "pulling the cart".
