Its not so much fancy as it is impossible to understand, unless you speak Greek. Luckily, coming from a Catholic background, I underestood most of everything, because the liturgy is nearly identical. The only thing that drove me nuts were the cantors.catlover said:They really get into Easter.

Is it really necessary for you to exhibit such negative and bitter thoughts towards these faiths? Are they really deserving of your mockery? That's more along the line of Southern Baptist . . . I haven't really come across this in Pentecostal Churches and I've been to a couple . . . .catlover said:

Yes, some get carried away . . . but mostly, I see it as inspiration. After 20 some odd years of stoic worship in Catholic and Orthodox churches, the whole gospel singing, hand clapping, jumping up and Halleluiah!ing was a bit.....unsettling. I have no doubt about that. I do believe that some of them really were sincerely praising God. You could see it in their face. You know my oldest daughter had married a Catholic, I'm sorry to say the marriage did not work . . . (not because he was Catholic, there were just other unmendable issues) Anyhow, before they were married, he went to a Gospel singing at our church. To which branch of Pentecostalism does your current church belong? Is is United Penecostal? Or what? There are some groups that are almost fanatical. A gentleman I had worked with had started attending a Penecostal church with a girlfriend once. They took him aside and asked him if he had ever spoken in tongues. He said no, so they took him into another room and proceeded to "teach" him how to speak in tongues. I like hearty "amens", "That's right preach it, brother/sister", but I get more from a sermon or testimony than holy running. I don't see how such antics bring glory to God anyway...I think God gets more from people feeding and clothing the poor. I maybe wrong let me know if I am...
I am really seriously considering checking out something more rational like the UMC or something...
