from: Majority of Democrats, Supermajority of Americans Say Afghanistan Withdrawal Handled ‘Badly’ (msn.com)

Sixty-eight percent of Americans and 55 percent of Democrats believe that the Biden administration’s evacuation of U.S. troops, civilians, and allies from Afghanistan has been handled “badly” according to a new YouGov poll.

"Of those who disapprove, 69 percent of Americans and 76 percent of independents say President Joe Biden bears responsibility for the chaos in Afghanistan. Despite the president’s efforts to pin blame for the confusion and escalating violence on the ground on the former Afghan government, only 37 percent of Americans have adopted this view."

"A mere 16 percent of Americans would go so far as to say that it has been executed “very or somewhat well.”

==================================

Ok so the performance has been pretty much what was expected - but aside from that - now that we are down this road with 46 at the helm- what is the "other option"? I don't think anyone wants to see a President Harris scenario played out and even fewer would want an acting president Pelosi as our "solution".

The Military has had some bigger issues to deal with other then Afghanistan , such as making sure that critical race theory classes are happening and LGBT related training is up to par, and all the Jan 6 antifa actors are tracked down.

So a lot of people have just had a lot of other things on their plate these days. Let's try to find ways to support 46 until the end of this term.

No one argues that this went terribly wrong, with 13 US service men and women dead today, but the previous administration committed to a hard withdrawal date so shares culpability to some degree too, and two administrations before that got us into this mess and didn't get us out. I just pray that no one else dies, but that probably is unlikely given we are in a hostile country, and counting on the Taliban for part of our defense.

not in the way the latest pull out was conducted, wasn't thought out very good.
Wasn’t thought out going there in the first place. Baby bush screwed that up big time. But i forget, it wasn’t a total loss, cheney has his military contractor buddies got rich.
Then there’s obama. Why didn’t he withdraw?
Then there’s the trump. He plans a withdrawal and sets a timetable that cannot be met, but DOES give everyone notice it’s coming.
Then some people don’t take responsibility for themselves and get out when they’re given many months notice?
Plenty of blame all around.
Now the wrong wingers want to politicize it, when not one of them could do any better.

Your loopy wingers politicized every thing every Republican president did.
It's called politics.
Bit if you feel it's wrong to comment on or criticize ineptitude,
you might prefer a one party state.
I think the CIA or someone has a list.

There is nothing new under the sun. "This is not Vietnam". Yeah, but just as much of a fiasco. History teaches that we learn nothing from history. The British failed, the Russians failed but the good ole USA will succeed. Like Vietnam, Iraq, Libya, Syria....

When a nation turns away from God, He lifts His blessing. Britain is no longer great for that reason. Afghanistan is just another warning from God. Is anyone listening?

I have no doubt you really believe that.

I also have no doubt all of the military command would disagree with your assessment.

Could the Afghanis have rejected democracy because they saw how badly it worked in the US since 2016?

It was tremendously frightening to see how easily an unqualified TV host/demagogue could take over a party, especially seeing how his former detractors who, like me, were "on" to him from the start, fell into line when, to their astonishment, he developed a following.

This doesn't have even the faintest glimmer of reality re: the world the Afghanis live in. They would love to have that "unqualified TV host/demagogue" right about now.

Instead they've got bupkis.

Such is the standard of political debate in some of these threads, I had to read that a couple of times to make sure it wasn't serious.
