  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I used to sail out of Inverkip quite a lot - saw the Tate and Lyle factory coming down piece by piece over several trips to Inverkip!
Inverkip is looking good these days... they've made over the marina and it looks great... have you visited lately?

Visited Greenock a few years ago to see the Tall Ships - spectacular! They did great job of rejuvenating the dockside area.
Some of my primary school class went to the seminary at Langbank, I don't know if any of them ever made it into the priesthood...
Yeah the Tall Ships was a massive success... it'd be great to see something similar in the area again.

As far as i'm aware the seminary is still on the go... although i could be wrong!!

Nope - the boats I am involved with have been moved to Craobh Haven up between Oban and Crinan. Haven't been to Kip since before they started building the flats there - a good few years! About 5 I think! Need to pop down for a nosey!

Has anyone else been watching the new bridge being built over the clyde at Finnieston?

Here is a link to site about it:

http://www.glasgow.gov.uk/en/Residents/Environment/Rivers/RiverClyde/Projects/FinnAnderSpring/Finniestonbridge/

I think it is beautiful, I went down and took these pictures yesterday morning and watched them lift the last piece of the arch into place. Was pretty impressive!

(Hope the photos work!)
Looking at the project aims I always thought it was supposed in part to take some of the traffic away from the Kingston bridge?

Not sure about that - I thought it was more about building a cross the river cohesive community with the new BBC offices and SMG offices on the south side and all the new houses etc on the other side. There is an extension road coming down from the M80 through the east end to join onto the M74 extension which should allow all traffic coming from the east to reach the west without first going north of the river, and all traffic coming from the North to choose to go over the Kingston or down past Parkhead and along the M74 extension onto the M8 where the M77 joins south of the river. That is if the M74 extension clears planning. I think the M80 extension is almost through, it is certainly at a more advanced stage than the M74 extension.
