There are those who say we obey the fourth commandment by resting in Jesus seven days a week.

There are even some who say we already rest in Jesus so why should we rest on the seventh day too?

But is this how God defines the fourth commandment?

God defines the Sabbath rest as a ceasing from labor to honor the meaning of the day. It's not the rest that is holy, it's what the day represents. God calls us to honor it by ceasing from secular work on seventh day.

Those who use the rest we have in Jesus to do away with the holiness of the seventh day have believed a lie. The rest we get from Jesus has to do with sin. The blessedness and holiness of the seventh day has nothing to do with sin.

Those same people who say we have rest in Jesus so why rest on the seventh day will take days off from work to rest.

The fourth commandment tells us that our sons and daughters, male and female servants and even our working animals must cease work on the seventh day in honor of what the day represents.

Have you ever tried to tell your cow she has to work seven days a week because her rest from sin comes from Jesus?

Jesus is Lord of the Sabbath so when we honor the seventh day, as Jesus taught us, we honor Jesus...

I thought the Sabbath was about worship, like the third angel said.

Is that a quote from the Bible?

No but here's one to consider..

Matt15:9
But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. (instead of the Commandments of God)

Here is what my Bible says:

Matt 15 7 You hypocrites! Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you:
8 “‘These people honor me with their lips,
but their hearts are far from me.
9 They worship me in vain;
their teachings are merely human rules.’10 Jesus called the crowd to him and said, “Listen and understand. 11 What goes into someone’s mouth does not defile them, but what comes out of their mouth, that is what defiles them.”

I think you should pay special attention to the last verses.

I don't understand what you mean by this... I'm not teaching the commandmens of men, as the verse implies.

You used the verse to try to promote something, and I merely put it in context.

Do you think religious man can teach the commandments of men instead of the commandments of God?

Do you think God is pleased with that?

Do we read in the Bible how we should obey God over man?

k4c,

I grew up on a farm, with livestock. We had cows that had to be milked twice a day, calves that had to be fed. We had other animals as well.

I went to an SdA academy and the other students there who lived without any animals, their reasoning concerning Sabbath keeping was academic without any practical sense of the unspoken truth. I was a new SdA, and after academy and 4 years of liberal SdA college training, the practical, unwritten truth of life had departed from my thoughts, and I had become bound in my mind by an absolute singular meaning of the words written in the Bible.

This was a necessary schoolmaster for a little while. This absolute, rigid as stone meaning of the words did protect me from the youthful lusts of my flesh for a little while. At the same time I was studying the things concerning Jesus. At first there was no difference, because the things of Jesus was understood through the rigidity of the stones as amplified through the hardness of the loaves of the unleavened bread on the gold covered wooden table of shew bread.

SdAism, at that time period, did not allow the ministration of the flames of fire through the 7 branched candlestick. Our worship and service was highly regimented and programmed. Flames of fire bounce and dance on top of the bowls of oil.

Changes have occurred during the past 40 years within the world of SdAism. Now as compared to then, makes the world of SdAism almost unrecognizable, except for worshiping on Saturday and the emphasis on the 10% tithe as an absolute duty.

Once again you are avoiding the truth by the reasoning of sinful man.

Cows giving their milk when they are full is not work, it's necessity. Jesus teaches us how there are some things that just need to be done on the Sabbath.

Luke 13:15 The Lord then answered him and said, "Hypocrite! Does not each one of you on the Sabbath loose his ox or donkey from the stall, and lead it away to water it?

You guys need to stop resisting God for the time of the end is way too close to be rejecting truth.

Revelation 22:11 "He who is unjust, let him be unjust still; he who is filthy, let him be filthy still; he who is righteous, let him be righteous still; he who is holy, let him be holy still."

If we were to observe the fourth commandment as God observed it, wouldn't we offer special animal sacrifices?

I'm not sure why I'm even entertaining this question. I think its for the young ears that are reading on.

To answer your question I will refer you to the fourth commandment and then to the words of Jesus to clarify the fourth commandment.

To answer your question I will refer you to the fourth commandment and then to the words of Jesus to clarify the fourth commandment.
Would this include the following God-given commands relating to how God intended the sabbath to be kept? When were these God-given commands repealed?
"1Then the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,

2"Command the sons of Israel and say to them, 'You shall be careful to present My offering, My food for My offerings by fire, of a soothing aroma to Me, at their appointed time.'
3"You shall say to them, 'This is the offering by fire which you shall offer to the LORD: two male lambs one year old without defect as a continual burnt offering every day.
4'You shall offer the one lamb in the morning and the other lamb you shall offer at twilight;
5also a tenth of an ephah of fine flour for a grain offering, mixed with a fourth of a hin of beaten oil.
6'It is a continual burnt offering which was ordained in Mount Sinai as a soothing aroma, an offering by fire to the LORD.
7'Then the drink offering with it shall be a fourth of a hin for each lamb, in the holy place you shall pour out a drink offering of strong drink to the LORD.
8'The other lamb you shall offer at twilight; as the grain offering of the morning and as its drink offering, you shall offer it, an offering by fire, a soothing aroma to the LORD.
9'Then on the sabbath day two male lambs one year old without defect, and two-tenths of an ephah of fine flour mixed with oil as a grain offering, and its drink offering: 10'This is the burnt offering of every sabbath in addition to the continual burnt offering and its drink offering." Numbers 28:1-10

"1'Thus says the Lord GOD, "The gate of the inner court facing east shall be shut the six working days; but it shall be opened on the sabbath day and opened on the day of the new moon.

2"The prince shall enter by way of the porch of the gate from outside and stand by the post of the gate Then the priests shall provide his burnt offering and his peace offerings, and he shall worship at the threshold of the gate and then go out; but the gate shall not be shut until the evening.
3"The people of the land shall also worship at the doorway of that gate before the LORD on the sabbaths and on the new moons.
4"The burnt offering which the prince shall offer to the LORD on the sabbath day shall be six lambs without blemish and a ram without blemish; 5and the grain offering shall be an ephah with the ram, and the grain offering with the lambs as much as he is able to give, and a hin of oil with an ephah." Ezekiel 46:1-5.
