• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The flood is impossible.

So the fact that the Hebrew word translated as earth (erets) and taken to mean the whole earth instead of understanding that the other meanings of the word in this case make more sense as in region or land. That just because religious myth have superseded reason and scriptural accuracy in our translations, that makes you right How?
Oh, don't bother with that. AV firmly believes that the King James Version is the authoritative version of the Bible. Hebrew is unlikely to move him.

I can tell you one of the biggest things that led to me becoming a KJVO:

The Tabernacle in the Wilderness, a 3D depiction of Jesus Christ in typology, being made of "porpoise skins or the skin of sea cows".

That pretty-well sealed it for me; especially when I learned that the Egyptian army drowned in the Sea of Reeds.

Yes indeed -- :)

Do you think the NIV can't be trusted? I know they leave out certain verses, but they always list the text in the liner notes, along with the reason it was omitted.

Is there any version beside the KJV that you would trust?

Colossians 4:15 -- KJV -- Salute the brethren which are in Laodicea, and Nymphas, and the church which is in his house.

Colossians 4:15 -- NIV -- Give my greetings to the brothers at Laodicea, and to Nympha and the church in her house.

You decide.

Only It and It's Predecessors -- to wit:

  • AV350 Gothic Version
  • AV700 Anglo-Saxon Version
  • AV1389 Wycliffe Version
  • AV1534 Tyndale Version
  • AV1560 Geneva Bible
  • AV1568 Bishop's Bible
  • AV1611 King James Version

Why does it make more sense?

"Erets" can also mean whole earth, as suggested by these verses:

The waters rose and increased greatly on the earth...They rose greatly on the earth, and all the high mountains under the entire heavens were covered. The waters rose and covered the mountains to a depth of more than twenty feet. - Gen 7:18-20.

All the mountains under the "entire heavens" were covered.

But, yes, "erets" can also mean a local region, which would mean that all land life lived and died in that local region when the flood came.

Creationists and any other "literal" believer of religion are quite brain-dead so why even ask the question about rubbish that was written by men, a long long time ago when we were unenlightened and ready to believe anything that made sense of a world we didn't understand - a world we now understand better and the less thick among us, realised at a young age, that religion was a big pile of crap that made people cope better with knowledge of our mortality.
Did you know that the cross is a religious symbol?

It seems to me you are full of crap yourself.

But welcome to CF.

What's your point about the cross?
That you're hiding behind a false icon in order to fool the mods?
I assure you I'm not full of crap...
A car doesn't need to be on FULL to run properly.
... and see the world as an intelligent thinking human does...
Meaning what? that you can mimic what "higher" academia teaches you?
... someone that can see past 2000 year old rubbish - believed in today by people with the naivety of children.
Too bad your world couldn't see just 9 months ahead in the 1960's.

Too bad your world couldn't see just 73 seconds into the future on 28 January 1986, eh?

Too bad your world couldn't see 76 years into the future in 1930.

But that's science for you -- always covering its behind.

Ooooh, a new variation of the Thalidomide and Challenger stuff! Oh AV, making the old new again.

Although I don't get the 2012 one. What are you suggesting is going to happen, and how does it relate to 1936?

I changed it to 1930 -- it's a reference to Pluto.

You should know my triad by now: Thalidomide, Challenger and Pluto -- ;)

Well, I would have known it was Pluto, but the dates made no sense. I thought maybe you had a new trick up your sleeve. I did notice that you recently brought the Gulf oil spill into the group as well.

Our blessed LORD's Holy Bible doesn't make any predictions because it's a historical document.

Every prediction made has already come true and is a matter of the historical record.
