I remember it. I was very young at the time. I remember seeing people's mouths saying two sounds so they could combine into a word.

I remember this too! The two silhouettes facing each other.
One would say "Fr", the other would say "og".
Then together "Frog"
Or whatever word it happened to be.

I remember how the music would build up as the word combinations were coming to an end, and then came the big finale.

Somebody actually had to write that music. I wonder if they stayed up late until they got it right or what.

How many people remember this show from PBS? I'm surprised I haven't seen it mentioned in this forum yet. It was produced by the Children's Television Workshop, the same people who created Sesame Street. It featured Morgan Freeman, Rita Moreno, the lovely Judy Graubert, Bill Cosby, and a cast of teenagers, among others.

It ran from 1971 to 1977 and remained in reruns through 1985. Anyone who attended elementary school during those years was likely to have seen it.

What were your favorite memories of this show? One of the most popular was the Adventures of Letterman.

I also liked the song about Silent E. Some of the illustrated images they used in that song fascinated me for some reason. The would show things like a dam turning into a dame, or a twin turning into twine, by adding the letter e to the end.

I found a lot of their little animated shorts really fascinating.
I'm just a bill...sittin on capitol hill.

I loved the Electric Company. It filled a nice niche for kids who felt to old for Sesame Street.
