You keep going and you'll be winner of the year in the forum. Why was Jesus persecuted?
One reason, he was supposedly ignoring the law.
One of the reasons Steven was arrested and stoned to death?
He was supposedly ignoring the law
Paul said:
Brothers if I am still preaching circumcision/ie law why am I still being persecuted? In that case the offence of the cross has been abolished
Gal5:11
The true offence of the cross is in not preaching righteousness of observing the law. For the proud of heart must believe they have earnt their way to heaven by being good enough
LolYou keep going and you'll be winner of the year in the forum.
You know, Jesus said he came for sinners, not the righteous. I imagine many who go to church today wouldn't have been interested in listening to him as that was the caseIt is surprising, you preach God's grace and it's called cheap grace. You preach Christ and Him crucified and your told...yeah but....
Unfortunately it isn't getting betterYou know, Jesus said he came for sinners, not the righteous. I imagine many who go to church today wouldn't have been interested in listening to him as that was the case
And the way we live according to the Spirit is by the indwelling of the Spirit.
There are ways for the believer to live their life:
- According to the flesh, by obeying the sinful desires of the flesh, and do what is unrighteous.
- According to the Spirit within us, by obeying the leading of the Spirit to do what is right, and good.
There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. Romans 8:1
12 Therefore, brethren, we are debtors—not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh. 13 For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. 14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. Romans 8:12-14
- For if you live according to the flesh you will die;
- but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.
16 I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. 17 For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.
19 Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, 20 idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, 21 envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. Galatians 5:16-21
Paul is teaching these Christian believers to walk according to the Spirit, and fullfil the desires of the Spirit, so that they will not fulfill the desires of the flesh.
Here is the ultimatum, written for all to plainly see, and do.
- that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

People who trust in works appear not to know how many works they must do to be sure of being justified. Have they done enough? They don't know!People are trusting their feelings...it will fail them. They are trusting their works...it will fail them. They are trusting in men...it will fail..them.
Trust Christ and Him crucified...it will never fail.
From your post I was asking if that is what you were saying. Wouldn't that be the polite thing to do? I think I said, are you saying you don't sin. I would have to check. But I'm not sure how that would be offensive.
Explain to me how you sin, but it isn't you willing sinning? I truly do not understand that.
Your insistence it is easy not to commit sin, is at best naive, at worst.......
I am afraid it is the mantra I grew up with. At church on a Sunday many folk gave the impression they lived virtually sinless lives but they could not keep it up 24/7.
BTW
Biblical perfection is not sinless perfection.
As the insults are flying and you are likening me to being a scorpion/ that us my nature whilst you are the innocent one being persecuted, it may be better if we cease discussion.
Please note, I have not inferred you may be a scorpion. I wouldn't use such language
I base my views on facts. You are basing your truths on your own experience, so can't relate to mine. I get that. You don't even believe the proof scriptures I give you, because you haven't experienced the truth in them. Thus the Word of God on those are just foolishness or I'm lying or naïve.
And just when I think we can be friends, you sting me.
I want to be winner of the year in the forums! You keep going and you'll be winner of the year in the forum.
I agree. Justification and sanctification are such key theologies. One MUST understand them. They are basic building blocks of theology.I should feel at home in Pentecostalish/ charismatic churches, for i fully believe in the gifts of the Holy Spirit for today. But I don't feel at home in them, because as a Baptist minister stated:
85 percent of evangelicals don't understand the justification/ sanctification process. And understanding that is more important by far than speaking in tongues. Because the most important thing is understanding the salvational core message given by Christ to the person who wrote half the books of the NT
So I tend to go to Baptist churches mainly. It's baffling to me. Many churches that don't actively promote the gifts of the Spirit understand justification far better than many that do
