• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I just really like that word. I've been called many things. I've been told that I'm a homosexual (even though I'm not). I've been called anti-straight, even though I am straight. I've been called godless, and a heathen. I've been told that my heart is full of hate (because I'm godless).
There is a website call DeviantArt that used to be quite good, but they haven't kept up with technology, which is a shame. Your writing style seems pretty conventional (good), on the high end of literate.

I've never been called a deviant, which is strange because I am a deviant. I'm perfectly satisfied with my life right now, and religion has nothing to do with it.
What brought you here? Do you know people here?

All of you are also deviants.
HEY!
You don't toe the line of what religious conservatives think as "good," which begins at homophobia, continues at dismissing the poor as lazy, and ends at supporting Israel as part of some inane "prophecy" so that the pleasantries of Armageddon can get around to happening.

And now I'm holding forth. Sorry about that.
That's ok, but be careful about dissing conservatives here where they can't answer back. It's against house rules. This is a different sort of "safe house" in that it is nominally for Democrats, who can be either liberal or conservative, but it also allows liberals of any political party.

Yeah, I'm not part of DeviantArt but I do like to go there from time to time. As with any online community, it can run the gambit. You can find professional level visual art, stuff that looks so bad that I might've drawn it, and everything in between.

What brought you here? Do you know people here?

I've been lurking for a while, and decided to chime in to some of the threads. I know that with the forum change a while ago, some people are gone. Many that had not been posting here too often are now doing just that. That's fine. The conservatives and libertarians that I wanted to continue posting here still are, so that's even better.

I go to other forums as well, but they are mainly forums where most of the people already agree with me in most respect.

=D

Understood. I was "holding forth." =)

Hi Deviant - I've always wanted to greet someone like that and not offend them. LOL.

You're more than welcome to hold forth because we've all kind of dropped off posting here. What's going on with everyone?

Been bummed out over this place, thinking of leaving. The new poll to open up discussion on homosexuality has brought out some serious venom on these boards. It's truly depressing seeing Christians treat an oppressed group with so much hate and disdain.

When that happens, I remind myself that their language is largely why gay people don't side with the Republican party in general.

Right now, Hispanics are the target. Because of them, California is blue and Texas may be going purple. So they are the problem. And as Trump's supporter told him, Muslims are also the problem. But that's not all. Blacks are the problem. The irreligious are the problem. Jews are the problem, in spite of the GOP supporting whatever Israel does. Single women are the problem.

I like to think that the irreligious are the biggest threats to them. You can always find a different demographic scapegoat, but social conservatives need people to be religious. It's fundamental. No pun intended.

I agree Marius. Given the opportunity to express love, all they can seem to find in themselves is hate - but that's a reflection of who they are, it's not a reflection on who you are, so I hope you stick around and keep on plugging away. I always appreciate your posts.

Hoo-boy! I didn't make the list. I don't know how long that post will last though as the thread is heading for a clean-up.

Hetta! Who BRAGS that she's THE Flame starter!
That would be FIRE starter, and I guess he's never heard of The Prodigy?? Or doesn't know any Pokemon. ROFLOL. I guess you have to have done some raving in your 30s and had Pokemon-crazy kids to get that it's a quote from a song and a fire-Pokemon.

And btw, breaking down the numbers of posts people have made by dividing them by every day they have had a membership really doesn't work. For weeks at a time I don't post on CF, and then I will post a bunch of times over several days, and then stop posting again for a while. It's based pretty much on how much nonsense I can bear. So I wouldn't be making a lot of money if I was paid. :)

The media’s big Bernie Sanders myth: Here’s how we build the coalition that shatters Clintonism, neoliberalism
Hillary-bots argue that Sanders only appeals to white Iowa & New Hampshire voters. Here's how he proves that wrong
Bernie Sanders is showing swift-footedness in making all the moves necessary to not only establish but consolidate his new front-runner position in Iowa and New Hampshire. Some in the media may not yet have caught on to the way the momentum continues to shift, but eventually the reality will sink in.

There are three things Sanders needs to do—and has already started doing in a noticeable way—to move clearly and permanently ahead of Hillary Clinton at the national level: a) dramatic emphasis on minority outreach; b) expansion of his economic message to one of social harmony; and c) delegitimization of the negative populism pervasive in the Republican primary.

Aw, crud! My Bye Bye Birdie clip got clipped from my Bye Bye Boehner thread. For all you Ann Margret fans:

If it's not clear, there are two parts to the clip - one from the beginning of the film when she's sincere fan and one from the end when she's disillusioned and sarcastic.

Funnily enough, it is not the really norm in Europe, or at least in France, to be referred to in such a way, and it took me a while here to understand what it meant. I wish that people here were able to have political discourse that arose above calling people "lefties" but I don't think that's going to happen.

Question to my fellow liberals - are you ever offended at being called a "leftie?" I'm not, but I was wondering if any of you all were.
I'm proud to be a lefty. Matter of fact, I refer to myself as far left. But a libtard? No.

Sandy Koufax was a lefty. So was Ken Stabler. I'm cool with lefties.
