The Soon Second Coming [or 2nd Advent] of CHRIST JESUS is the "blessed hope" for every believing and faith-filled Christian:
Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; (Titus 2:13)
HE shall appear in the 2nd Advent without sin unto Salvation:
And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation [even] to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book. (Daniel 12:1)
And he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you: (Acts 3:20)
Whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began. (Acts 3:21)
For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ: (Philippians 3:20)
So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation. (Hebrews 9:28)
The questions that are always asked are:
"When will it be?"
"What will it be like?"
"Who will be able to see it?"
"What events will happen?"
"What happens next?"
Scripture gives us only one conclusive answer to the first question:
But of that day and hour knoweth no [man], no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only. (Matthew 24:36)
But of that day and [that] hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father. (Mark 13:32)
The reason that this is so, is because the Scriptures reveal that the 2nd Advent will be very sudden and abrupt [and too soon for many who have waited too long, procrastinated, put-off, did not believe and/or mocked], like "a thief in the night", "suddenly", and it will be at the time of the FATHER's own choosing, just as in the Wedding Day [which the 2nd Advent is in the context of, a Royal Wedding], for HE will then send HIS SON, CHRIST JESUS, to come and claim HIS own Church Bride.
For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. (1 Thessalonians 5:2)
But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. (2 Peter 3:10)
[For so shall it be in the last days as it were in the days of Sodom and Gomorrah when Lot went out, and also in the Days of Noah, and the flood came and destroyed them all..., A Rain of Fire, a Global Lake of Water, and in the End - a Rain of Fire and Global Lake of Fire]
JESUS CHRIST HIMSELF tells each of us to "be ye therefore ready" at any moment:
Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh. (Matthew 24:44)
And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him. (Matthew 25:6)
Watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the master of the house cometh, at even, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning: (Mark 13:35)
Be ye therefore ready also: for the Son of man cometh at an hour when ye think not. (Luke 12:40)
Well, what then can we know about the timing of this great event? Scripture reveals that we can know when the time is "near" [see also Obadiah 1:15; Zephaniah 1:14]:
So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, [even] at the doors. (Matthew 24:33)
Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When her branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is near: (Mark 13:28)
So ye in like manner, when ye shall see these things come to pass, know that it is nigh, [even] at the doors. (Mark 13:29)
And he said, Take heed that ye be not deceived: for many shall come in my name, saying, I am [Christ]; and the time draweth near: go ye not therefore after them. (Luke 21:8)
And the Everlasting Gospel would first have to go and be proclaimed to the whole world for a witness [not that all would come to believe it, but rather, for a witness] and then the end would come:
And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come. (Matthew 24:14)
And the gospel must first be published among all nations. (Mark 13:10)
And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people, (Revelation 14:6)
And great "signs" and "wonders" in the Heavens will preface the soon-coming event:
And I will shew wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke. (Joel 2:30)
The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the LORD come. (Joel 2:31)
The sun and the moon shall be darkened, and the stars shall withdraw their shining. (Joel 3:15)
Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: (Matthew 24:29)
But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, (Mark 13:24)
And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; (Luke 21:25)
The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before that great and notable day of the Lord come: (Acts 2:20)
And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood; (Revelation 6:12)
And the LORD has given to us, that though the time continue to draw onward even later still and the event seems to fail in prophecy; yea, HE has told us that this would happen and that there will be an apparent "delay":
While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept. (Matthew 25:5)
...a seeming time of tarrying, of trial and testing [compare also Exodus 32:1; 1 Samuel 13:8-11]:
But and if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming; (Matthew 24:48)
But and if that servant say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming; and shall begin to beat the menservants and maidens, and to eat and drink, and to be drunken; (Luke 12:45)
Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, (2 Peter 3:3)
And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as [they were] from the beginning of the creation. (2 Peter 3:4)
But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day [is] with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. (2 Peter 3:8)
The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. (2 Peter 3:9)
...though the LORD is not truly delayed and "at the end it shall speak" at the "appointed time", for HE is long-suffering and not willing that any should perish:
For the vision [is] yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry. (Habbakuk 2:3)
