I was wondering what you people think about this so called Code?

I think it is outrages! To say that He was married to Maria Magdalene is nothing less than shocking, not to mention the fact that Dan Brown says that he actually had children.

We should warn people about this lie!

Most people just dismiss it as fiction, but its much more dangerous than people think. If somebody doesnt know the bible well, its possible to believe that its real. I think we need to educate ourselves, so we can educate others on this. If you search, you will find tons of threads on the da Vinci code.

It's about as dangerous as any other relativistic nonsense in the world today, besides, it's a work of fiction that uses nonsensical pseudo-fact as a foundation for the story. Even secular historians would laugh at Brown's presentation if it was taken seriously.

Yes, I guess that most Christians with a sturdy faith would probably dismiss the movie/book as nonsense. But what of those that are still searching for the truth of the Word of God?

I’ve met a girl last week that actually believes everything that Dan Brown says. I think preachers and church leaders should speak out against evils such as The Da Vinci Code and the Bible Code and also warn people of the dangers of the Gospel of Judas.

I agree, most Churches are totally watered down when it comes to apologetics and reinforcing the faith of their members. It's a sad state. It's not like it's a hard thing to do.

Step 1) Point out historical inaccuracies in more trivial parts of the book to undermine the storyline.

Step 2) Point out doctrinal flaws.

Step 3) Explain why doctrinal flaws are truly flaws.

Step 4) Contrast with Old Testament prophesies.

Step 5) Point out crucial historical inaccuracies.

[/end silly belief in Dan Brown]

I agree! I never thought of your step 4 before. Good point! I’ll remember that when I see that girl again. Most of these Da Vinci Code believers still believe in the Old Testament.

I was hoping to meet someone that believes in Dan Browns Da Vinci Code. I’d like to hear these people’s arguments as well.

It is an all out attack on Jesus. No serious Christian can take this lying down. It is serious business. Call it what you want, fiction or anything else, that does not matter. What matters is - that this is an all out attack to discredit God, Jesus is God. This book and movie is total trash and blasphemous. True Born Again Bible Believing Christians are very disturbed over this outrageous blasphemous trash.
You can’t sweep it under the rug by dismissing it as fiction or anything else. Any attack or suggestion, or implication that God is sinful, and the Bible is not true is totally out of line and wrong.
There is only two sides to this issue. The wrong side (anything not condemning the book and movie) and the right side (completed condemnation of the movie and book).

Get over it????????

The Movie and Book blaspheme my Lord and Savior. I don't get over that kind of thing.

Christ is God, He is the center of all things. This is not a frivolous matter. Any assignation of God's Character is not a light matter to be brushed off as "its just fiction" or "it just a book or movie"

Isn't Sony Pictures, the studio that produced the Da Vinci Code movie, as well as distributors and promoters of the novel, controlled by Jews? What would the Jewish interest be in promoting this film and book?

Sony Corporation, the force behind the Da Vinci Code movie, is the eye of this Jewish promotional octopus. In the late 1980s, Sony of Japan bought out Metro Goldwyn Meyer, Columbia Pictures, and United Artists. Former president of Jewish-owned CBS, Howard Stringer (a Jew), became second in command of Sony International. He is chair and CEO of Sony of America. Sony of America is dominated by Jewish names. Emily Susskind is president. Robert Wiesenthal is executive VP and chief financial officer; Nicole Seligman is executive VP and general counsel. Phil Weiser is CTO and senior VP. Michael Fidler Jr. is senior VP. Jay Samit is general manager of Connect. Gretchen Griswold is director of corporate communications. Sony’s subsidiary, Columbia Pictures, maker of the Da Vinci Code movie, is headed by Amy Pascal, a Jew. She is also chairman of Sony’s Motion Picture Group. The producer of the film is Brian Grazer, a Jew.The screenplay was written by well-known, Jewish screenwriter Akiva Goldsman.

The largest Jewish publishing houses reap staggering profits from sales of Da Vinci Code books. Jewish Joel Klein is chairman of American operations of Bertelsmann A.G., the largest publishing conglomerate in the world. Random House, which the Encyclopedia Judaica confirms is Jewish-owned and controlled, is part of this consortium, benefiting by massive distribution advantages. 4 Random House owns rights to produce all large-print copies of the Da Vinci Code. As a division of Random House, Doubleday owns rights to produce all regular-print and special collector’s editions of the book. Finally, Anchor Books, another venerable Jewish publishing house and subsidiary of Random House completes this Jewish monopoly by printing all paperback copies.

Jewish-controlled magazines also hype the Code. Some 50 popular magazines, including Time, Life, and People, are owned by Time/Warner, with Jewish Norman Pearlstein, editor in chief. Newsweek, published by Jewish Donald Graham’s Washington Post, has featured recent conspicuous articles enticing millions to purchase the book or see the movie.

Articles too numerous to mention continue to emerge from Jewish-controlled newspapers. These include those owned by the Samuel Newhouse chain, the New York Times, the Boston Globe, the New York Review of Books, the Village Voice, etc. All have been intensifying interest in the Da Vinci Code’s blasphemous message. The New York Times praised the book as "impeccably researched," despite the Code's outrageous claims, including that the Roman Catholic Church burned five million women at the stake. These media voices, which reflected so gravely on possible anti-Semitism in Mel Gibson's Passion of the Christ, have not a word of concern about the Code's rabid anti-Christianity. That's because they share it.

Also, it is interesting that not only Christians, but Muslims are also opposed to the film and the book. A Coptic member of the Egyptian Parliament says it is based on "Zionist myths" and "insults the Christian religion and Islam". On June 14, 2006, Reuters carried this story:

"Egypt to confiscate Da Vinci Code novel"

(Reuters, June 14, 2006)

Cairo, Egypt - Egyptian authorities will confiscate copies of the best-selling novel The Da Vinci Code and ban the film based on the book from showing in Egypt, the culture minister told parliament on Tuesday. To applause from members of parliament, minister Farouk Hosni said: "We ban any book that insults any religion... We will confiscate this book." Parliament was debating the book and film at the request of several Coptic Christian members who demanded a ban. Georgette Sobhi, a Coptic member, held up a copy of the book and the Arabic translation and said it contained material which was seriously offensive. "It's based on Zionist myths, and it contains insults towards Christ, and it insults the Christian religion and Islam," she said.

We can agree on this. There is a very real attempt to subvert Christ in this country especially. This should be quite obvious by now.

Maybe I'm missing something, but how is the book an attempt to discredit God? Just what is so bad about entertaining the notion (not that I believe it) that Jesus was married? And if it turned out that he was, would it affect his teachings in any way?

I agree with Gordon on this, not only is it an attack on our Lord and Savior by making this movie but its an insult to our intelligence and faith. Sure they pass it off to the move see' er and book reader by saying " Oh guys comon its just fiction it doesn't hurt anyone to bend and twist the past a little." Who else do we know in the bible that loves deceive and manipulate the truth?

* I mean how long will it take us too forget the the truth and start believing this garbage that their feeding us.

Here's the link why I really dislike the whole Da Vinci Code because the Author claims it to be the Truth. And their is no Historical ties to his claims whatsoever but please if you are in defense of the movie or book take a look at it. Ex:

The Holy Grail is Mary Magdalene, the mother of the royal bloodline of Jesus Christ; she was the womb that carried His royal lineage (DVC 253, 255)

what I don't get is why the church jumped all over the da vinci code as if it were going to destroy Christianity itself, yet by and large we ignore the false teachers creeping up in the church. Its the wolves in sheeps clothing that are going to do the worst damage in the church IMHO.

I considered Da Vinci Code an attack on Christianity, but not really much of a threat. It's a work of fiction, and not a very good one; even non-Christians see that.

However, many of the "twists", like Jesus & Mary Magdalene--those are nothing new. British Israelism has been advancing that belief for a few centuries now. It's really kind of funny--Da Vinci Code actually furthers the idea that this is fiction, not fact.

I agree that the book is an attack against Christianity. Whether Dan Brown took a shot a Christianity to cause a stir to sell more books, or if it was an earnest attack from him against us. That said condemning it (i.e. calling for it to be banned and telling Christians not to read it) I don't think is the right strategy. The world is supposed to hate Christ, so I should be thankful when my faith comes under attack. We should use the opportunity to learn to defend against what the book is saying.

Believe it or not the book is based on myths that are believed by more people than just Dan Brown. Dan Brown just brought the ideas to the world stage.

As for what exactly the book effects about Christian teaching. I would say Citanul that Jesus simply being married to Mary Magedilin doesn't cause a problem by itself. My issue is that the Bible is pretty big on marriages. Jesus first miracle happens at a wedding, there are a many parables/teachings using marriage as a metaphor. With this in mind I can't see Jesus being married with out God mentioning it.
Dans Browns Allegations is that the Church (including the disciples) were trying to cover up this fact. And that Jesus was infact married and wanted Mary to be the head of the Church. And the holy grail (the cup holding Jesus blood at the last super, which in reality is likely a cheap cup that has long since decayed) is the blood of the child Mary Magedilin is carrying. But in reality he blood is supposed to represent Jesus death on the cross. They make a big deal about the last surviving decendant of Jesus. The thing is if this person is only significant if Jesus was significant... otherwise this person is just a decendant of a royal line no longer in power. The book claims Jesus wasn't ressurected.

It seems to try to take emphesis on Jesus and put in on Mary (or a woman). This combined with the sex ritual scene with the priory of scion smell of gnosticism. Its actually pretty scary.

Come on everybody, it is a sensationalist account of a particularly juicy piece of gnostic heresy. If somebody is dense enough to believe that a novel is uncovering a truth hidden for 2 millenia then that somebody needs to get their head examined.

Is it blasphemy? No, the author would need to claim that the book was true for it to be blasphemous. Take this, for example.

*please note, I made up the following story a minute ago*

10 year old Jesus was playing soccer one day against a russian child. The russian kicked Jesus in the shins and was promptly carried away by angels to hell. Jesus laughed.

Is the above blasphemy? No! It's totally ridiculous and I TOLD YOU BEFORE HAND that it wasn't true!
