The Commonwealth..............

I question the U.K. Commonwealth.

My perspective show that it created(or increased) violence,disunity,tension,rebellion and etc......

Both past and present

Africa-South Africa,Kenya,Sudan etc.....
Asia and Mid East
Ireland and Northern Ireland
Islas Malvinas(Falkland Islands of Argentina)
Gibraltar(Spain)
Ontario and/or Quebec(French Canada)
Carribean Islands

Other palces......

Most of these Couintries are not with it anymore but when a country is,is it really independent???

Do any other nations have a system like this around???

Just a few points on the above:

Islas Malvinas - Trouble in the Falklands was due to the fact that Argentina invaded the islands. The Falklanders consider themselves British Overseas citizens.

Gibraltar - again, the Gibraltians consider themselves British Overseas citizens. They have made it abundantly clear that they do not want to live under joint British/Spanish rule - they would prefer British rule only.

Northern Ireland - this is a very difficult political situation that has a very complicated and bloody history; it's a home affairs issue, not a Commonwealth issue.

South Africa - withdrew from the Commonwealth because of their Apartheid policy. Rejoined following the collapse of Apartheid.

and the Canadian thing... that's between the Ontarians and the Quebcois(sp?).

And there are a few seperatists here and there... but they're mostly (or maybe totally French) and it's really more or less sarcastic jabs than serious political strife.

I don't think that the Commonwealth was a player, in the sense you are implying, in that one.

i dont know if you're asking this but theres four or five states that are commonwealths like massachusettes and virgina.

Kentucky, Massachussetts and Pennsylvania are Commonwealths

Virginia is a Commonwealth and Dominion ( I think - wols? help)

Delaware is a corporation
