Salam my Muslim brothers and sisters,

In this century everything is turned to a business, one of those things is Death. You die, and by your death someone else will be benefitted. Your dead body will become a source of income for the Commerce of Death. In Khawater s10 ep11, Ahmed travels to different places to see how people deal with the dead bodies. What you will see will shock you...please turn Caption ON in order to see Eng sub (this is not literal translation, but it does transfer the meaning well).

Go to minute 2:38 to see the ep and skip the intro [don't forget the caption]

This is informative any argumentative, offensive, irrelevant, religion vs. religion as in good vs. evil will be ignored.

I worked at a cemetery, selling small plots of land. The funeral industry has one of the biggest lobby groups in Washington D.C. People don't want to know why you have to have all that nonsense when you die.... it bc people will pay what ever to be respectful to their deceased loved ones. Who decides what is respectful?
It used to be the family would wash the body and present the deceased for viewing for people to say their good byes but we got sophisticated and decided to pay others to do what only the loving should do.
Yes, the funeral industry is an absolute rip off but we consumers have asked for it... embalming is the silliest thing ever. Crypts, costly caskets, often costing 3-4 thousand dollars. Why? The healthiest way would be to allow the body to rot and return to dust as it is meant to be. As it is we are using up good land for cemeteries that no one knows exist 100 years later.
(Note there is a problem with a lot of bodies rotting and the fluids running into ground water. So there are precautions that should be taken) but not the cost of an average funeral being about 6-7 thousand dollars.
My sister makes a living selling head stones and grave markers. There is a huge difference in pricing for this service. She makes a modest living and charges about 100$ for installation. Some charge 1000$

Thanks for sharing the video it gives a rare view of funeral practices in the West and in some Arab countries...

Ove rthe years I've visited several kinds of cemetaries... Outside the walls of Akka is a fairly large Muslim cemetary... and of course I've seen the cemetaries in portions of America.

When my grandmother passed away she was cremated and her ashes were scattered somewhere... There is no place to visit to remind us of her and her husband was also cremated years ago and his ashes were intered in a vault. I had a plaque made to remember my grandmother and had it installed behind his urn.

Being Baha'i we have simple requirements... We do not cremate or embalm.. The body is washed and a shroud raps the body. Burial must be within three hours of the place of death and a simple congregational prayer is recited. There are no priests or Mullahs in our Faith so the responsibility falls on the community.

There are laws that govern burial and most cemetraires have requirements as to what kind of markers can be used. Some no longer accept markers that are upright.

As Baha'is we do ask that our believers have Wills and leave instructions to their loved ones as to how the body is to be buried.

Baha'i cemeteries have been destroyed in Iran so our loved ones grave sites have been disturbed.

I agree 100%. Reminds me of this SciShow video from not too long ago about the options we have today:

I'm sorry this video wasn't as long as a music video..

Remember, some of the people that have very western values cannot take time away from reality TV to watch a video.
