Ok, it's midnight in England now. The chapter for April 15th is Exodus 6. Here's a link: Exodus 6 NIV - Then the LORD said to Moses, “Now you - Bible Gateway

Again, Moses "speaks with faltering lips." I looked at different translations and some interpreted it to say he stuttered, while others had Moses claiming he wasn't a good speaker or wasn't clever with words.

God bless you,
Grace

One thing that strikes me is that Moses is still on about the stuttering lips. Maybe he did lose his confidence in his actions, or he was coming up with excuses.

Other than that, one thing I realized is that God mentioned Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in this chapter. He is keeping the promise he made to them concerning Israel and the land he promised to their fathers. They will have that land because God promised it to them, and He keeps his promises, no matter how many generations of people pass and rise.

Likewise with the words in the Bible. Each prophecy yet to be fulfilled will be fulfilled, because God keeps His word. Even with the signs of the last days--we WILL see them. If not us, then maybe our children, or their children's children.

Yeah.. he wasn't. Maybe he was just stubborn, and, being the king of Egypt, wanted to be on the higher ground. His heart was hardened against God, which seems to me to be a terrible thing to happen.

Like what that commentary said about one of the earlier chapters.. I don't think God hardened Pharaohs heart (I hold a free-will view.) but that He gave Pharaoh over to his desires/lusts. He probably wanted more great pyramids for himself and his kind, and buildings that glorified him. He probably bathed in the riches of his own kingdom. I mean, how long did he have Israel beneath his feet? How long did he watch their suffering and slavery go on? How long did he live choosing not to do anything about it?

At least, that's what I see. But I don't ever want my heart to be hardened to God. Sometimes at church, the pastor/preacher says something from the Word of God that cuts my heart. One time, I felt so offended at someone for preaching against something I was doing, but I realized that I was hardening my heart and trying to ignore it. I felt sorry for doing that, and chose to heed the message instead of fighting it.

In this case, Pharaoh is fighting the message instead of heeding it.

Frogs, Gnats and Flies, yet Pharoah isn't budging...

How could he stand to see all this going on, say one thing, do another? So when God hadn't hardened his heart, wonder if Pharoah was serious about lettin' the people go?

EX.CHAPTER 8

I'm actually pretty surprised that after turning the Nile to blood in chapter 7, that God really had to do worse to convince the Pharaoh to free the Israelites. I get it, frogs in everything is pretty bad, especially considering the stink afterward, it's just that in my mind, water NOT being blood is pretty essential haha. It's humorous to me because it's building to that sudden "A-HA!" moment of the Pharaoh, and those moments are unforgettable. Like candid camera when someone is caught on camera doing something socially unacceptable and then they realize "Someone was watching all along!!"...wait for it...

Vs 11 And the magicians could not stand before Moses because of the boils; for the boil was upon the magicians, and upon all the Egyptians.

for some reason this cracked me up about the magicians not being able to stand before Moses cuz they had gotten the boils on them too...almost as if God was saying...soooo you think you're as powerful as me, do ya'?

And the Pharaoh, after ALL of that, yet sinned again, and had lied blatantly to God again.......can you BELIEVE that?

One thing that strikes me is God destroying Egypt's livestock. Both with the sickness, and then the hail. The sickness killed a lot of the nation's animals, and then the hail killed anyone that was outside along with their herbs and trees.

God weakened Egypt by that. They lost a good portion of their food. It was sustenance and fed them. It was probably what made Egypt rich, and well-fed. I don't know. It just seems to have some sort of significance. I can't exactly put it to words, though..
