i believe Lot was counted as "righteous" by God for Abraham's sake. He also was grieved about Sodom. Yet he was sorta' "split"....he apparently married a woman there and his two daughters married men who could've cared less about God because they were perfectly happy there and didn't take Lot seriously when he told them they had to flee....
yes, many believers today are in the same dilemma as Lots conflict....there are many, possibly unrecognized ways that even believers "sacrifice" their children to the various "gods" of this world.

I should have remembered that Ruth was a Moabite!
but maybe what Lot was doing wasn't as bad as it sounds. If the visitors were angels it would have been much worse for the Sodomites to have sex with them rather than his daughters and by offering them he was protecting the angels. If you think of it that way it sounds a noble thing to do.
