Haman builds a gallows and plans to hang Mordecai on it.

Esther Chapter 5

After three days of fasting Esther went to see King Xerxes.

He holds out the golden sceptre and she touches it. This means she is welcome and safe.

Esther invites King Xerxes and Haman to a banquet. The king asks for her request.

But Esther says nothing but invites them both to another banquet the next day.

After the banquet Haman passed Mordecai in the palace.

Once again Mordecai refused to bow to Haman.

For Haman this was the last straw.

So Haman built a gallows and planed to hang Mordecai on it the next day.

Miss Rowy,

Yes at the end of Chapter 5 there is a dark black cloud over the future of Mordecai.

Haman thought for sure he was gonna put an end to Mordecai, and he was gonna go to the banquet and celebrate it. He must've been ecstatic.

The King could not get to sleep

Esther Chapter 6

King Xerxes could not sleep that night, so he asked that the records of the Persian Empire be read to him.

The readings included the story of how Mordecai had saved the kings life from two of his eunuch guards, who were plotting to assassinate King Xerxes.

The king asked Haman advice on how to reward a man for exceptionally good service to the king.

Haman thought the question was about the king regarding him.

Haman suggested what he would have wanted for himself.

“Order beautiful robes suitable for a king. Ornament the king’s horse. Dress the man in the robes and required the highest nobleman in the land to lead the honoured man through the city square. The nobleman was to call out SEE HOW THE KING HONOURS THE MAN HE WISHES TO HONOUR.”

The king then ordered Haman to lead Mordecai through the city centre. Mordecai was on the horse dressed in those wonderful fine robes.

Haman obeyed the orders of King Xerxes but felt totally humiliated doing it because he had planned to hang Mordecai the very next day.

The king’s ostentatious show of gratitude to Mordecai kind of thwarted Haman’s plans for Mordecai.

Miss Rowy,

Yes Haman really put his foot in it good and proper.

I think the Book of Esther is very popular with this forum's members.

It is a wonderful love story about the Jewish Queen Esther and her marriage to King Xerxes of the vast Persian Empire.

Esther tells Kings Xerxes about Haman's plan for the Jews

Esther Chapter 7

The next day King Xerxes and Haman go to a second banquet organised by Queen Esther.

The King asks Esther again “What is it that you wish to request from me your king?”

Queen Esther answered, “If it please your majesty to grant my humble request, my wish is that I may live and that my people may live. My people and I have been sold for slaughter. If it were nothing more serious than slavery, I would have kept quiet and not bothered you about it; but we are about to be destroyed - exterminated”

The king blows his top when this story reaches his ears. Who is doing this he rants?

Queen Esther answers, “Our enemy, our persecutor, is this evil man Haman.”

The king stormed out of the room in a furious rage, while Haman begged Queen Esther for mercy.

King Xerxes was then told that Hayman had built a gallows on which to hang Mordecai.

The King immediately orders that the gallows be put to good use.

Haman is hanged on his own gallows.

Haman never saw that comin'. did he? All the evil that he planned for others, came right back onto himself. What a shock that must've been to him.
