CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I could never marry any of my husband's brothers. And I'm sure they would be none to happy having to marry me either but the man had the option to reject the marriage.
I do still itself a selfless act to raise your child as your brother's so that his family name is carried on. Would all children be the brother's or just the first?

That's a good question....
and yes for a man to do this would prob'ly mean he really loved his entire family and would be acting out of compassion for his sister in law, and wanted to see his brother's lineage continue....

Put on the full armor of God
The question of women wearing men's clothing was asked late in the last thread. Hopefully this answers that question:

"Deuteronomy 22:5 deals with the issue of men dressing in women's clothing and vice versa. In this passage God commands that a woman is not to wear that which pertains to a man and a man is not to wear that which pertains to a woman, for all that do so are an "abomination." The Hebrew word translated "abomination" means "a disgusting thing, abominable, in the ritual sense (of unclean food, idols, mixed marriages), in the ethical sense of wickedness." Therefore, this is not simply God addressing the fact that a woman might put on a man's garment or vice versa. Also, this is not a command that a woman should not wear pants/slacks as some use this passage to teach. The meaning here is that this "cross-dressing" is done in order to deceive, or to present oneself as something that he/she is not. In other words, this speaks to a woman changing her dress and appearance so as to appear to be a man and a man changing his dress and appearance so as to appear to be a woman. This is the definition of a cross-dresser or a transvestite.
We can also reason that the dynamic behind this is the leaving of what is natural and taking on that which is in God's Word called unnatural (Romans 1:24-27). Paul tells the Corinthian church that the way a person wears their hair is a demonstration of rebellion against God's order, and therefore a woman who cuts her hair to appear as a man or a man who wears his hair long to appear as a woman brings shame to them (1 Corinthians 11:3-15). The issue here is the motive and attitude of the heart that is evidenced in the choice to rebel against God's standard
These are principles we can use to reason an application. Whatever the prevailing custom, men and women should wear gender-appropriate clothing, dressing decently and in order (1 Corinthians 14:40). To apply the principles, the Bible calls cross-dressing or transvestitism a choice that is a demonstration of unbelief and rebellion against God and His order."

As i was reading chapter 26, and the commentary, i realized that giving God the firstfruits is a demonstrable way to evidence not only thanksgiving that He blessed one with those firstfruits at all, but it also evidenced a TRUST and FAITH in God, and a rejoicing, so to speak, with no worries that they would be in "want" or "needing" anything, but trusting FULLY that not only would God PROVIDE, and ABUNDANTLY so, but that He would BLESS them in extraordinary ways...for to offer these firstfruits with a joyful heart is an expression of loving the Lord thy God with all thy heart, mind, soul, and strength, and therefore it surely MUST bless our God's heart...this verse comes to mind:
"The LORD thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing." ~Zephaniah 3:17

This is QUITE a day. A day to commemorate, as it is this day that the people of Israel are told officially that they are now the people of the Lord thy God! This is HUGE!
Verse 9:
"And Moses and the priests the Levites spake unto all Israel, saying, Take heed, and hearken, O Israel; this day thou art become the people of the Lord thy God."
The commentary is sooooo helpful in explaining how God's Word must be presented very plainly by ministers, etc. And as i was reading the commentary about the Lord God now officially being their King, i realized that THIS is why God was against Israel choosing to have an "earthly" king...they were in their hearts "replacing" God as their King with an "earthly" one. Profound!
