  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I would say so. It was life-altering, right? I think that's what Lisa's talking about though in her case it was about being loved. In your case it was getting rid of your doubts and confirming your faith. In my case it was letting go of bitterness and regret. He "finds us where we are" and we are forever changed by it.
Yeah, you and Nadiine are probably right. I should probably share my story some time in the future too. Let's just say that I take very well to my namesake (Thomas aka "The Doubter").

Lisa, I admit to a bit of envy. I like those words - refresh, renew, etc. Song of Solomon makes me cry - especially where she won't admit her Lord to her chamber because she's already changed and sleepy. As I've become more and more aware of the "Bride of Christ" metaphor, I find bride stuff all over scriptures!

Like Nadiine said, those moments are so rare, but so intense, and I think they come when we are ready for them or when we need them the most. I feel so blessed and so FULL. It feels like I could type forever and I just could not say it right.

All I know is my Lord, OUR Lord is so wonderful, so completely and utterly perfectly loving and good. There are just no words right now, but someday, SOMEDAY, we WILL sing His praises day and night.

Imagine when He gives us our special new name! To walk with Him and talk with Him. Can you imagine sharing a joke with the Lord?

Praise His Wonderful Holy Name! Blessed is the Name of the Lord who Reigns Forever and Ever and Always!

Lisa

Lisa, that is cool! Nadiine, thanks for sharing too. Maybe you gals could pray for me that I get that! I need to chew on what you said Nadiine about the pride and all that. That is so true and powerful! Thanks!
I'll definitely pray for a deeper walk and that God would do great things in and thru you. I just hope you don't think you need seek for God to do something supernatural so you 'feel' it... I had the displeasure of knowing a woman that seemed really together in her doctrine, and all of a sudden she started "seeking God" in a deeper way.... she said she wanted all of Him.

Well, long story short, she was seeking signs & private revelations from God - pretty soon "God" told her to stop reading her bible and just trust in him more & seek him more for her guidance. (red flag anybody?).

It only took a matter of months for her to go off the spiritual deep end once she started seeking for God to do things privately in her - as far as I could see, she sought him for signs. She was asking him to teach her things no one else knew (private revelations). She wanted spiritual nuggets (as she called them) that only He could give her.
But God doesn't jump thru hoops like that & I believed that the source of her seeking those revelations & signs was pride - to feel "special" above all others & get something no one else was getting or knew.
Anyways, you have not said that's what you want, only that God doing stuff like this is very rare & random.

We had a guest speaker at our church one morning who had written some Christian books & his latest one was about 'when God hides'... He talked about how so often it almost feels like God isn't even there or doesn't hear us, etc. How we go thru very long periods of just walking in faith and God doesn't "show" us anything and that he experiences that too & had been for a very long time.
He said he believed that God hides on purpose so that eventually we feel we need to seek Him more intensely and get a hunger for Him in our spirit. That will produce a deeper walk than God constantly providing 'signs' for us to feel etc.
Long story, but that was his take on it.

One thing I hold onto is God's "formula" for attaining things we want:
Matthew 6:33
"But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these [other] things will be added to you.

And when we're seeking Him correctly in a deeper walk, then our "wants" start lining up with His will and we want the correct things.

Sorry for the :preach: !! Just that it's on my heart this morning - and I plan to do the same.
:holy:  :sorry:

WOW, Nadiine..I get what you are saying. I have 'experienced' people like that too...and rest assured...that is NOT what I am wanting. IN fact, when I went to bed last night...I prayed and said to the Lord, I don't want Nadiine's experience or Lisa's experience (NOTHING wrong with that), but I want HIM! is what I said. I want Him and only Him.

Yes, the stuff you mentioned does raise a red flag. IF something pulls us away from Jesus, that isn't good. Thanks for sharing that! I hope what I said makes sense.

I believe that is similar to what St. John of the Cross called "The Dark Night of the Soul".

yes, I agree. I heard some one say once too that God whispers so we have to draw close to hear Him! That is true too...God is a good God. I love Him...I know He loves me...but honestly! Sometimes, I do want to 'feel' it as well!

Yep, I get it =D
& I definitely didn't feel or get any impression that you were seeking anything in any wrong sense at all.
 I just thought I'd share a sad story about what can happen if our motive isn't right at the source.

The good thing about hearing things like Lisa just experienced (in a breakthrough so to speak) is that it prompts us to want more of Him in a deeper relational experience too. (lol, "I'll have what she's having"):p
I know it prompts me that way and I think God can do so many things for us when we have a pure motive in seeking Him for the right reasons.

Yes, and that is what sisters do...put out a 'warning'. I am glad you did. I am glad you shared that. Yes, you are right, when you hear testimonies like that, it does spur you on into the deeper things of the Lord. Amen.

LISA.....

Friend....

I read your posts on the other thread from last night and I have to tell you that I am wonderfully encouraged.

I do agree with you not only with knowledge but with my Spirit.

I just want to encourage you not to give up the good fight or to stop running the race.

As a Believer, PRAISE GOD, that there are Muslims hearing willingly the Word of God and His sweet Message of Salvation. We need to stop and wonder what these precious brothers and sisters in Christ are doing to influence others in such a way that they want them to come back. Perhaps there is a lesson to be learned from their life for us.
