This song sort of relates to this thread, I think  anyway, it's an awesome song and I love it. Here it is:

'Intimacy'
by Matt Redman

One thing my heart is set upon
One thing that I would ask
To know You, Lord, as close as one
Could hope to on this earth

Intimacy
O Jesus, intimacy
My treasure will be, O Jesus
Your intimacy

To look upon Your beauty, Lord
Your glory and Your heart
To know You close, and closer still
Each day upon this earth

Lord, since the day I saw You first
My soul was satisfied
And yet because I see in part
I'm searching, more to find

Thank you, dear ladies, for sharing these wonderful secrets!

A word that often pours from my mouth is "Abba," which I know means "Father" or, as I've heard my preacher say it, "Papa Daddy." This has been important for me, because although my relationship with Jesus has long been strong I have been slower to warm up to the Father, having had a rather distant and temperamental earthly dad. With Jesus as my inner partner--well, Jesus has drawn me close to our Father, so that now whenever I space out or lose something (which is often) I say, "Daddy," and He connects me to the reality of the current situation. With my God, I am whole! Without Him, I would be so lost!

This IS a blessing Robin. Isn't it great to know that our Father is our Daddy? Yes, without Him we would be lost!

I can sort of relate to that, Robin...the Father has always seemed more distant to me than Jesus, I don't know why :( my prayers to the Father tend to be sort of 'formal', whereas when I talk to Jesus it's more personal. But I know that the Father is just as loving as Jesus and is not distant or angry. This is something I'm trying to overcome in myself.

Maybe it's just the associations we have with words...it took me a while to reconcile the two 'images' of Jesus as the King and the Lamb..or the Lord and Friend. I used to associate worship with fear and reverence, but not with love. Thankfully this has changed..which has really affected the way I worship!
When I think of the Father, I usually think of Him as the Creator, the sustainer of all things, the all knowing, all powerful, eternal God. But it stops there. It's sort of an effort to go from that to thinking of Him as my 'daddy', and me as His child. :sigh:

But it's so wonderful that we can approach God not as some cold, angry tyrant who wants to punish us, but as a loving Lord who has the power to destroy us for our sins, but chose instead to die Himself. This 'balance of images' is one of the things that attracted me to Christianity in the first place...that there is a 'personal relationship'; that we can worship God out of love, not simply out of fear or duty. That's because of the Holy Spirit :)

Yeah!
I come to know my Father in Heaven through seeing/experiencing through Jesus' eyes. Knowing the love he shares with His Son breaks down barriers of distance and misunderstanding and distrust. How much we need Jesus! No wonder he is the only way to the Father!

Amen, dear sisters. I really like what you said, dear sister Robin, about how knowing the love the Father shares with His Son breaks down barriers of distance and misunderstanding and distrust. It is amazing to me that so often I limit God by expecting Him to act by merely human standards. I start getting suspicious and thinking "this is too good to be true". But it isn't too good to be true! Seeing the love between the Father and the Son, the sweet intimacy and the tender affection between them, always melts my hard heart. Our Father is the God who is Love! Infinite, boundless, love! As Love, He is continually giving, giving, giving. And He only gives what is truly best for us. How pleasant and how restful to drop all distrust and simply trust Him and receive all that issues from His heart of love.

Could I ask for prayers? I posted a snippet of a story that I am writing a while back in this thread. Well, I'm kind of having writer's block... I want God to give me more revelation into how He wants this story to go.

Soon we will be carried off to be with Jesus!

Check out the detail in the angels robes. They are covered with depictions of the Life of Christ.

I have a question :) I noticed that some of you call Jesus "Yeshua"...so I was wondering, is that the Hebrew or Aramaic form of His name? Is there any evidence that it was His 'original' name? I don't really know much about this...any help would be appreciated :) Also I'm wondering...what does His name mean or translate to in English?

I'm guessing that "Jesus" comes from Latin...although in Latin it's probably "Iesus", because they didn't have the letter "J". Maybe the Latin comes from Greek...which probably comes from Hebrew or Aramaic? I'd love to know how John, Peter, etc, called Him
