It is absolutely essential to understand the vision of Daniel correctly if one is to grasp the time lapse of the 70 weeks of years decreed
The first 483 years of the 70 weeks of years ended at the Lord's "cutting off" [Daniel 26]
The next part of the verse is still pending .... the 70th week has not yet begun
There is a breach in the scope of the vision between the end of the 69th week and the beginning of the 70th .... all of the prophetic visions in scripture are silent regarding the passing of time on the earth between the ending of the 69th week ...... and the beginning of the 70th week
The people of the prince that shall come were not the Romans in 70 A.D. ..... these will be the people of the little horn of Daniel 2:40-44; 7:7-25; 8:9-12; 8:23-25; 11:36-45; 12:7
70 A.D. was obviously not the "time of the end" recorded in the prophetic scriptures.... and not even a part of it
The Lord has purposely delayed the progression of the balance of all of the unfulfilled portion of the visions because of Israel's rejection of Him as Messiah and King .... and this balance is still pending fulfillment [Romans 11:25-36]
He is the one who will confirm the covenant that He has with His nation of Israel in Daniel 9:27 .... He is the only one who can do this for a believing remnant part of the nation during the coming 70th week
All 6 objectives listed in Daniel 9:24 will be met during the 70th week for Israel
This vision given to Daniel is all about "his people" .... at the time of the end still pending .... not the nations of the gentiles
The first "He" in 9:27 is the Lord .... the second "he" is the other prince and his people .... and it is these who will come to desecrate .... at the middle of the future 70th week
All of the related visions of the "time of the end" of this present age reflect a clean break between the ending of the 69th week and the beginning of the 70th .... and there is nothing recorded of events on the earth between
Examples: Daniel 2:39 ..... 2:40; 7:6 ..... 7:7; 8:8 ..... 8:9; 11:35 ..... 11:36
This same breach is also reflected by the Lord's discourse in Matthew 24, Mark 13, and Luke 21 ..... all of His projection is for the "time of the end" .... the 70th week yet to come .... and His focus is upon the generation of a returned part of Israel in the land of Israel
Revelation reflects this same exact setting: He first addresses His church and gives evaluation [Revelation 1; 2; 3] .... He then reveals the things that would take place "hereafter" .... after what? ..... after the fullness of the gentiles of the nations has been added to His church .... and He sets no dating for the time lapse of the "adding"
He has not revealed the dating of the beginning of the coming 70th week decreed for Israel ..... same period as His coming wrath and tribulation against an unbelieving world including Israel .... 1260 days +1260 days + 30 days
It is at the end of this 2550 days that He will appear on the earth and proceed to establish His coming millennial kingdom on the earth
The breach in the time lapse between the end of the 69th week and the beginning of the 70th week decreed for Israel is reflected in the following verses of Revelation:
[Revelation 1:3 ..... 4:2 12:5 ..... 12:6 17:8 [between when the beast was ruling just before the Lord's first advent and subsequent ending of the 69th week, and his return to rule again] 17:10 [between the 5 fallen kingdoms of the beast, the 5th falling just before the first century, and the 6th which will be present at the beginning of the 70th week]
The building of the Lord's church began at the ending of the 69th week decreed for Israel [about 33 A.D.], is still on going at this time, and this process lies in the breach of the scope of the prophetic visions between the ending of the 69th week and the beginning of the 70th
Once the fullness of the gentiles of the nations has been added to His church, He will then begin the 70th week decreed for Israel .... the time of "Jacob's trouble" and His judgment of an unbelieving world [Jeremiah 30; Daniel 12:1; Matthew 24:21]
His primary purpose for Israel will be to pressure the nation to repent and reverse their rejection of Him as Messiah and King .... a believing remnant part of the nation will do this and He will confirm the covenant for these .... the "many" [Jeremiah 31:31-37; Ezekiel 36:10-38; 39:21-39; Daniel 9:24-27; Joel 3:16-21; Zechariah 13:8-9; 14:1-11; Acts 1:6; Romans 11:25-36]
