I'm aware of this... and from all I have heard, Anne Catherine Emmerich's writings are intensively anti-semitic and their use in the movie fueled much of those early reports that the movie was going to be fraught with anti-semitism as well. I began reading that website you linked back when the movie hype was really gathering steam, but never got terribly far... and then it slipped my mind. Thanks for the link! Now I can keep reading. :)

If you are interested in the anti-semitic aspect, then I would like you to read the prayers that Mel has prayed for the last 15 years to saint Bridgit according to an interview he did on a catholic site [I will find the interview]. Here are links for the prayers. Pay close attention to number three:

http://ourworld-top.cs.com/mrosale/id31.htm

http://www.ewtn.com/library/PRAYER/BRIDPRAY.TXT

Everyone need to get the "feelings" glasses off and get a reality check. Feelings are what will mislead many to worship the anti-messiah.

HT, did you mean number three? Or did you mean number 4 (which is the one I thought you meant)?

4. WHOEVER RECITES THESE PRAYERS WILL ATTAIN THE FIRST DEGREE OF PERFECTION.

I think he meant the third prayer:

The Prayers of Saint Bridget
Third Prayer

Our Father - Hail Mary

O Jesus! Creator of Heaven and earth whom nothing can encompass or limit,
Thou Who dost enfold and hold all under Thy Loving power, remember the very
bitter pain Thou didst suffer when the Jews nailed Thy Sacred Hands and
Feet to the Cross by blow after blow with big blunt nails, and not finding
Thee in a pitiable enough state to satisfy their rage, they enlarged Thy
Wounds, and added pain to pain, and with indescribable cruelty stretched
Thy Body on the Cross, pulled Thee from all sides, thus dislocating Thy
Limbs.

I beg of Thee, O Jesus, by the memory of this most Loving suffering of the
Cross, to grant me the grace to fear Thee and to Love Thee. Amen.

Speaking of the Passion I just noticed Shoshana Zakar of Jews for Judaism fame made a new website called The Jewish Passion:

Yes, I've been reading that site for a couple of days now. I like the way she has explained the Jewish view of the Messiah and why/how it differs from the Christian view.

Yeah I agree. Its a good thing to understand who the Jewish promised messiah really is/was as aposed to the christian creation. In fact there would be nothing in terms of arguements there that oppose Yeshua fitting the role she describes for being the messiah. Which I believe he definetly did.

Anyway dont wish to lead this off topic :D

Shalom and G-d bless

This is a Christian perspective on the movie. I found it to be an interesting read
From the Article"

Fortunately, a few of my trusted friends, who are grounded in the Word, were willing to go with notebook in hand, and deal with the final details needed for this article. Quite frankly, I did not wish to attend, and fully appreciate their willingness to help in this way.
Quite an opinion for somene who did not see the movie.

Regardless, if I saw the movie and it drew me closer to the L-rd or awoke me to how much I had taken for granted what He suffered for my salvation and how great His love.....What harm is that?
Is it any different than hearing a good preacher or rabbi?
I saw it. I have never been nor am I now that I've watched it, anti-semitic.

Funny, Arnold can kill 100 people in his movies and it's no big deal.
You can find sin and satan glorifying movies everyday and no one makes a peep.
But ....Forbid, if anyone should make a christian one.

Who cares what Mel prays? It wasn't in the movie and I would never even have heard
of it if it wasn't for being posted here.

The big question here is this:
does one become so afraid of having fingers pointed at them and so afraid of hate
that they themselves become the finger pointers and haters?

Perhaps we should all concentrate on becoming more loving, understanding, accepting and forgiving.

Point to ponder: I left the movie loving at least 1 Jew all the more and all the more grateful to the rest, for through them my savior came.

HT:

When ever I read an article, I always look at the footnotes to see the documentation that the opinion is based on. When I researched the statements for myself, they were proven to be true, mostly by Mel's own statements on Catholic sites. I would now ask you refute the article on the basis of errors in the research.

HT:

Because parts of the movie that were scripturally incorrect, were based on visions of those that he prays to. It is nice that Mel has Jesus AND Mary AND the saints in his heart, but scripture clearly forbids this.God is a jealous God, as it is written.

HT:

Even better, maybe we can just get a one world religion where everyone can have what they want. A little compromise never hurt anyone...did it? Better ask Eve.......

B2:

P.S.S. And I love you with all of my heart...even if we disagree.

HT:

I love everyone as well, but I love The Almighty more, so if there is apparent error, I must discuss it as commanded by Him.

ya know... when we are told that the gates of Hell shall not prevail... when we consider how much paganism has crept into the body, how many wolves in sheep's clothing have slunk in amongst the true sheep, how many times persecution and hatred have spawned sweeping revival... *shaking head* even in the face of the danger of Mel Gibson's personal views of Jews possibly causing anti-semitism... much good can and should come to average folk who see this movie and don't already have anti-Jew leanings. IMO, anyway.

I'll say this, though: I don't think for one minute that any Jew will be receptive to Yeshua because of this movie... unless he/she was already inclined toward Yeshua, and the Ruach was already working to call him/her before the movie. I suspect that those who are against Yeshua now will be as much so if not even far moreso, after seeing the movie (if they go). This is just my "sense" of it. I am concerned that the fallout of this movie will result in an even wider gulf between believers and non-believing Jews.
