  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

My son considers this blues. I always thought of it as acid rock. (because of the history of the band). I guess you can decide for yourself.

Mike Pinera and Larry Rhinehart were both 2 seasoned blues guitarists and you can hear the Allman bro influence (Rhino lived with Dickey Betts for a while) They were both hired to replace Erick Braunn who left the band in '69 right after their live album was recorded. Pinera wrote this to be his own "Inna Gadda Vida."

I would certainly say "blues influenced" -- in the vein of an earlier post about "you know it when you hear it."

For me, that rolling beat make it at least blues-ish.

Cool sound.

Some might know this song better as "The Under Assistant West Coast Promotion Man" by the Stones. Great catchy harmonica riff, I almost don't blame 'em for stealing it, lol.

I wonder, if we'd had free universal health care in the early 20th century, would all these guys have received treatment for their depressed mental state and we'd never have had the blues? :)
