Back home (northeast ohio) the birds would start chirping at about 630AM as the sun rises... The birds here in Louisville start yapping at 330am. The odd thing is I never hear them during the day, only at night when I desire silence.

Subsequently they are driving me crazy. I just thought I would share this with you all.:eek::eek::eek:

Hehe, my Mom kinda had the same problem with Birds while she was pregnant. Apparently she was trying to take a nap, but there was a tree full of loud birds. So what does my Mom do? Takes out her revolver, goes outside, and shoots up into the tree. The birds went away after that ;) (note: this should only be done in rual areas)

Do you have Earplugs or headphones?

There are some birds in my backyard trees who are singing ALL NIGHT! Midnight, 1 am, 2 am...til the other birds chime in arund 4:30 - 5.
Must be some kind of nightengale.
I usually enjoy birdsong, but sometimes, if I am restless, I really wish the bird would move a few doors down. Or to migrate back up north ..... :)

These guys can stay here for sure! (they eat flies)

You guys really get my ____ (you fill in the blank). Up here in upstate New York we have total silence (from the birds) from July to mid-March. Oh, we have owls hooting occasionally, and turkeys gobble some in late winter. But with respect to the birds that sing so beautifully, nada, zip, ziltch, zero on a tune.

Oh, we do have crows galore all winter long, if you call that bird music. And bluejays. And, an occasional flock of geese flies over. But where are the mockingbirds, and the robins? The warblers? The finches? What I'd give for a catbird's "screech" or a cardinals high warble in January!

Oh, well....

I generally love birds. The sound is comforting. And I am VERY glad there isn't a screech owl around. It's just sometimes....

We did have a a bunch of rather expensive little dogs go missing in the area for a period of time a few years back. The police were wondering if there was some kind of black market or something going on. Turns out, it was a Great Horned owl at fault. Had himself some very expensive dinners.

Then there was a friend of mine who had a pond in the backyard that her husband built (with a waterfall and all). They got some more expensive big fish because the cats kept getting the little ones (proof that cats do fish). When those started going missing, they kept a watch out. Turns out, a sand piper herring (they migrate through ) was having himself meals worth about $25.
wadda you do? ^_^

Dude if I had crows in my yard that yapped the most awful noise, I would be outside having a great time with my shotgun.

I live in NE Ohio now and they start chirping here about 4:45 am, which wakes up my puppy who then wakes me up. Later in the spring they will be chirping by 4 AM sharp.

Where in NE Ohio did you live? :)

Mark! That's mean! I hope you wouldn't actually shoot them but simply scare them off.

Holly, I hate to break the bad news to you like this, but crow hunting is very popular up here. We have complete rigs, and go out often after those feathered vacuum cleaners. (They do a lot of damage to farmer's crops every year, so farmers welcome us with open arms)

But, on the other hand, crows are the smartest birds on earth, believe it or not. I cannot begin to relate all the times I got my rig set up well before sun-up. Everything looked perfect to me. But the crows come in, see my work, and set down in nearby trees to mock me and warn every other crow coming through to stay away from the stupid humans under the camo netting.... And they will stay in those trees for hours, just to make sure no other crows get fooled! It is downright frustrating some days.

Nope, I am actually a bit calloused towards birds for some reason. I'd enjoy busting a cap in them suckers. :p

Well.... OK. I just love nature too much to do that! :p
