Thanks, no I didn't look at the first page in enough detail to read the recipe, but I'm going to now -

I sense a cooking experiment coming on. I assume a short pastry base will be okay? I don't think Tescos here in the UK are big in pre-prepared Shoo-fly pie bases!

I think Brits use some different vocabulary in cooking than Americans. I'm trying to remember for sure what "short pastry" means. I think it's similar to American pie crust, but made with butter. If so, this should work just fine.

For American pie crust, you cut some shortening or lard into flour and salt, add a little cold water until it holds together. Sometimes there are a few other ingredients, like the liquid can contain an egg and some vinegar.

It is, more or less - short is tart (pie) base, flaky is what you'd use for like croissants , Danishes, pies (like Steak & Kidney).

So, about those pick-up lines:

I see people with all kinds of "stuff" and I wonder why. It would be fun to learn why people wear the items they have.

I have 2 items that were given to me - the rose and the Vine's. I think they were gifts of kindness. One was anonymous, so I don't know who gave it to me, and can only guess why. I tend to get into some pretty heavy discussions of hermeneutics, so I assume someone gave me the Vine's because of that. Whoever it was, if you're here, Thank You!

The ice cream cone is the only thing I bought for myself. There is a group of people around here who carry ice cream cones, so it's sort of like a secret badge. We never say openly on the boards what it stands for, so it's kind of mysterious.

I know some of the other items (like the candle) are badges for other groups on CF.

I have the Light Sword because I use light to peirce through arguements of darkness. I have the Shield of Peace as I try to bring peace through truth. The Spiritual Belt keeps all of my armor in check. I wear the Crown of Kings because I am one. The Holy Robe is a sign to others that I am under the protection and guidance of Jesus, and my Ice Boots symbolize my Antarctic background.

As for my other items, I use the Orthodox Bible, which has books that the Protestants took out, because there is more information. I have The Divine Liturgy of St. John Chysostom because that is the main litugy I use. And, I have an Orthodox Cross, well, because I'm Orthodox
