So this thread is about... you guessed it! Animals

It can be stories about animals (your own or maybe something you saw online/news/etc), pictures of animals, pictures of your pets, pictures of animals you would like to be your pet or..whatever!

I'm really thinking my mom and I should get another dog. Ever since Angel went missing (or stolen) my other dog Rascal just seems a little lonely. Maybe it's us putting that on him, but it still seems a little like he needs a friend. Even though they had big size differences they got along great. Of course, he came along and was the newbie for awhile and then it was just her and him. Now it's just him and I'm thinking bringing something new in might give him a new lease on life. He's about 9 years old now, so it might be a good transition.

I'm thinking a Lab. And definitely female. Something large breed.

Have any of you brought in a new dog into your home where you have other dogs? How was the transitioning? Did you have to barricade any of them through the "get to know you" phase? lol

Aww They're so cuteee! I would love to own a cat. I think they're really cool and have very interesting personalities.

ETA: Lol Like for example Buster kind of looks startled, Sammie looks like they're about to swipe and Jasmine looks like they just don't care.

Each one is different in personality. I have found with cats that the males are much sillier than the females. Sammie "talks" constantly to me. Jasmine is a gentle giant. Buster is a goofball with extra toes (polydactyl) who suckles on my shirt like a kitten to its mother but also has "little boy" moments such as trying to tackle me by grabbing my ankle as I walk past him.

One poked its eye out so we gave it to a friend and the other died of hypothermia whist living in my conservatory - England gets cold in winter! So yeah, I ain't too good with pets. Though I still love them, I grew up with a lot of dogs! I hope to get a dog in future!

I have had hamster, guinea pigs, fish, rabbits and cats. I have chosen not to have another caged animal although I miss my hammies. Cats and I get along perfectly so I'll stick with them (I always get rescues, never buy them from any pet store).

I have owned 3 rabbits in my lifetime. They are all when I was younger and I just wasn't quite sure what to do with them, lol. One was really skiddish, one was mean, and one just was there. lol So I really enjoy dogs and their companionship.

I actually would love to own a bearded dragon!

All my dogs had good stories behind their coming to live with us. Out of the 7 dogs I've had in my life I've only ever bought one of them. But I didn't buy her from a shop, my great aunt had a neighbor who had puppies and she knew the neighbor wouldnt take care of them if there were any left. So she got a whole bunch of people to buy the puppies and I picked out mine. So even though I paid for her, I was rescuing her at the same time.

A babysitter I use to have had a huge Iguana that lived in her living room (in his own little house of course) and I had a love hate relationship with it. haha I was kind of scared of it because it was so large but on the other hand I couldn't quit looking at it!

I've always loved animals but sadly, I've never been able to have a pet. Actually, I rarely even get to go near animals. So when I used to have a friend who had pets, I always loved going to her house and seeing the animals. I loved when we had animals in my school classrooms too.
I definitely want to get a pet someday. I wanted a cat, but I found out that I'm allergic to dogs and cats, so now I don't know. Maybe I'll get a rabbit or something.

I wonder if you could have a dog or cat that didn't have whatever you're allergic to about them? There are some hypoallergenic dog/cats out there that could be a possibility. Maybee like:

I've heard that poodles, and labradoodles are hypoallergenic and beyond cute, haha.

Or this is called a Samoyed.

I've also heard Bengal cats are hypoallergenic! Those are so cute. I'm a little allergic to cats myself but if I ever was to get one, I think I'd get a Bengal.

Maybe! Or you could get a reptile or something. Although... I think they have their own allergens and whatnot to look out for.

Haha right?? I would be the same way. But I'm like @Multifavs I've been told I am allergic to cats but meh.. I haven't really noticed anything except maybe I get a little sneezy. Nothing a benadryl won't fix, haha.

Random story: One time our dogs were really barking at something so my Dad and I went outside to see what was going on and there was of all things a pretty decent sized Hermit Crab in our driveway. No clue how it got there or where it came from. Dad ended up taking it to a local lake that had sand and water and stuff. It was cute, but I wasn't sure what to do with it, lol. We looked online and it takes a lot to care for Hermit Crabs

I have a rat named Katniss (but everyone calls her Kat). The black and white rat in my picture on the left is my sister's rat. They're actually both my sister's, but she gave me one as a gift.

My rat is the beige/white one. She's really smart. I've taught her to spin, jump over pencils, fetch, walk on a leash, and carry small things around the house for me. She follows me around the house and likes to sit on my shoulder, and seems to always know when I'm sad. She's also sleeping in my lap right now

There are so many animals that I would like to have, like jersey wooly or angora rabbits, mini goats, chickens, ducks, quail, sheep, donkeys, llamas, etc.
