I don't watch TV much. And I hate most reality shows. But I love the Amazing Race! It's nothing like a "reality" show. Teams of two people with an already existing relationship race around the world for a million dollars. No fake drama, just what plays out between the racing teams dealing with stress. It's got tension, great camera work, exotic destinations, great interactions with locals and Phil Keoghan. Need I say more?

The new season starts on July 6 here in the US and Canada, and the teams should be announced pretty soon - so let's hear from you TAR fans!

Yeah, that used to bug me too. But if you think about it, what if the same team got an enormous lead say two legs in a row? Then you'd pretty much know who was going to win the race. I like it when there are 3 teams in a close race to the finish line. Not like last season, when David and Jeff (a/k/a Team Who?) got stuck in Hawaii, and the editors only made it look like Kelly & Jon were close to Reichen and Chip. Probably the best finish with the worst outcome was in TAR 3, with Ken/Gerard, Ian/Terri and Flo/Zach very close together. I hated the fact that whiny Flo won, though - LOL.

I have also read that there's a new feature on TAR this season called Yield. Apparently a team can use it only once during the race, like the Fast Forward, and it's used to pass up a team. I have no idea if this is exactly right, it seems a bit confusing and unfair to me. We'll find out soon enough.

I am a huge TAR fanboy. I can't wait for this season to start.

I went to the CBS website, which said it would have the new seaons page active on June 4th, but it's still not working (as of 2300 CDT 7 June).

Less than 30 days until Phil says, "Go!" and the race will be on.

Yes, I know! Apparently they were supposed to introduce the teams on The Early Show last Friday, but ran in to a glitch. So, the website won't be updated until the teams get their 2 seconds' time on TV, probably sometime this week. You'd think someone would at least update the CBS website so it doesn't still say "Friday June 4"

I just knew they'd put the teams up when I was out of town.

OK, I knew about Alison being on the show, but since I never saw Big Brother I have no idea what she's like. So we have a dwarf (that's new), twins (again), soccer moms again (only change soccer to bowling), the split-up couple "testing the relationship" again (see Tara and Will), and the plus-sized comic relief guy brothers/friends again(like Kevin & Drew, Ken & Gerard, and Dave & Steve).

If I ever wanted to be on the show I know what mold I'd have to fit in to!

I must admit, the Amzing Race is one of my fav 'reality' TV shows. although most teams are stereotyped i still think its one of the best shows out there.

pitty we, in australia, get it at something like 11.30 at night.

Honestly, not one team stands out to me to be great contenders at this point. Actually, from reading the bios and interviews, Charla and Mirna seem to be the ones who have done the most preparation and have the better foreign language skills. But I see disaster in the future for Charla, especially if they have to ride bikes or anything.

First out, Bob and Joyce.

Is this because they're the token "old couple" this season? Don't forget about the Grannies, they lasted a few legs on their season.

I kinda hope Allison and Donny don't last long. Like I said before, I don't have any preconceived notions about her from her prior show, but I am mad at CBS for casting her in the first place. There should be a rule against former reality show contestants being cast. I'm also mad at CBS for casting so many model-types also. It's so much better with your ordinary, every day people. I'll probably root for one of the "regular" teams, like the brothers.

Yes, I've heard it's on at strange hours in Australia. Is it true that it won't start there until halfway through the season here in the US? I hope you guys will be able to follow along with us here from the start!

The Amazing Race.....11.30pm at night.....probobly a Wednesday night......

And it probobly wont start till, maybe, September, if that?

That's Australia, though. We got Survivor All Stas about 3 weeks behind the US and in the last week had something like 3 episodes just to catch up...

Wonder if we'll get the Olympics same time as everyone else? Or do we have to wait several weeks for that, also??? ;)
