Being new. I wish I could say I am surprised by the pro abortion views of Christians on a "Christan" site but I'm not. It's crap like these pro abortion views of Christians which why I don't attend any church community. I haven't any issues with Christianity. It's Christians I want no part of. And this thread and the tolerance of these views is a perfect example of why I struggle with it.

500,000 - 600,000 people die every year in the US to cancer. Then when you think of other ailments like diabetes (29 million have diabetes) the number of people who will die or have severe health problems per year is in the millions...

In the US, the religious Right has set the entire medical industry back decades on this issue.

Dude, you can't use evil to do something good. Abortion is wrong and evil. You can't think it's God's will we find cures from the murdering of a child. A wrong doesn't make a right.

Showing respect for the dead isn't useless. Texas is trying to show some CHRISTIAN decency in the face of an abominable law. But I'm speaking with an Atheist. So.

Has anyone explained whose going to provide all these "respectful burials" for miscarried foetuses? Or what constitutes "respectful burial" in the first place? Do they each get a coffin? Grave? Church service?

Actually if this is just a rehash of the bill struck down last year, which it looks like it is, miscarriages remains are not included only abortions and it's very scant on details for the burials.

Stem cell research is the future of modern medicine but because of a group of ignorant people with no understanding of science, stem cell research in the US has been set back decades, DECADES!!! Rich people can afford to fly to Europe to get the latest stem cell treatments, but normal Americans can't.

Think of how many people would have died if vaccines were set back Decades, if organ transplants were set back decades, if diabetes research was set back decades....

Fetuses are going to be aborted. Miscarriages are going to happen. This law does not change that nor does this law impact those numbers in the least. If you could show or even argue that this law would decrease the number of miscarriages or abortion then you would actually have something to argue. But the reality is that this law does nothing of the sort, the only thing this law does it make ignorant self righteous people feel like they have done something good. Ironically, your attitude and your view is literally killing MILLIONS of people but you don't have the necessary aptitude to comprehend that.

Fact: This law does nothing to lower rates of abortions or miscarriages
Fact: Fetal tissue from abortions and miscarriages would be instrumental in medical research
Fact: Stem cell research offers cures and treatments superior to current medicine
Fact: Millions of people die every year from cancer and other ailments
Fact: This law and attitudes enabling this law prevents and/or encumbers research that would save millions of lives per year

please show me where any of the facts I listed above are wrong?

No one is pro abortion. Using cells from aborted fetuses to do research does not make you pro abortion. It's like saying that using organs from a person killed in a car accident makes you a supporter of car accidents.

The intention of the law is to make it more expensive to get an abortion. It has nothing to do with "respecting the dead".

this law has no grounding in respect of the parents or the living. The purpose of this law is so that a small group of people can walk around reveling in their moral superiority as they look down their noses at us unenlightened heathens.

Abortion is bad. Thus, anything that comes from Abortion is likewise bad. And anything that makes abortion harder to implement is good. Doesn't matter if it doesn't change the numbers, all that matters is said group feeling like they've "done something".

And ironically they have, it is laws like this that delay life saving medical treatments by stymieing (hampering) research. Every year that cures are delayed is another X million of people forced to suffer and die...

but hey, as long as that small group of people can feel good about themselves and thump their chests, that is all that matters...
