Didn't we just go through a period of panic buying and hoarding, cleaning out stores of everything? It's happening again in Texas.

I'm getting out today in search of bottled water, though I don't expect to find any. I'm just glad to have heat now, as was out for 34 hours and nearly froze Monday night. Couldn't leave because of a bed-ridden elderly parent, and now may have a burst drain pipe. Afraid to turn the water back on until a plumber can look at it - earliest I can get one out here is middle of March. So no water at all until then.

I really can't say, this will be the first time I've ventured out since it began. I sure hope so though, if they're providing water. Many will be in search, even those who have running water, since we're under a boil-water alert.

Not quite the hoarding we had during the start of C19 here but the ice and cold and roads and snow shutting down roads for a few days have store shelves rather empty of some items like bread and ramen noodles and orange juice and other items I had to go to several stores to get a few things after it started thawing out good.

I live alone and so don't need a large stockpile of food and sundries, but after the recent panic buying, mainly of paper goods, I decided to 'stock up' on the stuff I use and foods that don't spoil. I don't fill my shopping cart to the brim but add two or three 'stock up' items each time I shop. Over time I find that I only have to shop about half as many times as I used to, and that for the few perishables that I need. I'm in and out in minutes usually with fewer than a dozen items. I'm going to refine it more as time passes.

The long and short of it is that your home should be the "store" for most of what you need, not the local supermarket or a warehouse somewhere.
