They have had news stories for years regarding the families that live along the border. They have claimed its war zone down there, and they pack guns and cell phones while working their land. I linked to one story, but there are many MANY others.

Here is another one from Reuters.

I feel for both sides of the border personally. Mexico deals with this terror as well.
It depends on where their property is along the border. If the border cuts through your literal background within feet of your house that is one thing. If you are a rancher where the border cuts through grazing land acres away from your house that's another.
I really don't think there are any easy solutions and the same solution will not work at every location along the border.
I don't see how it can be done without many more boots on the ground along the border. This is where I am with @SimplyPut that we should utilize the military. So far, I don't remember anyone giving a good reason for not doing that or why we couldn't do that. It is not unprecedented.

Well, it'll still be a war zone, but thanks to the government, it won't be their war, because it won't be their land anymore. Some might consider that an improvement, but from what I know about Texans, I don't think a lot of them will be too thrilled with the solution.

La Lomita Church is an important historical structure. Might not look like much, but this little church means a lot to the people of the area:

"....a network analysis shows, about 4,900 parcels of property sit within 500 feet of the border in Texas.
Most Texas land is privately owned, a fact that could complicate and delay efforts to build a wall in a state that reveres private-property rights.

...and from the 2006 when the Feds last built border fences in Texas:
As of summer 2017, nine years after the first cases were filed, 85 of the more than 300 cases were still in litigation. Some landowners died fighting their cases through the system.

Can you explain what exactly this map is depicting?
Los Ebanos is a village of three or four hundred people on a hairpin bend of the Rio Grande just west of McAllen TX. It is possible that Trump's wall would cut off that loop.

Los Ebanos is a small town that occupies a spit of land that is U.S. territory. It looks a lot like a little Mexican town; poor streets, friendly people, and a very nice old church.

The Butterfly Center includes more than 100 acres of butterfly sanctuary, and Trump’s plan would take around 70 percent of it and stick it on the Mexico side of his wall.

Trump's wall bulldozers have arrived at Texas' National Butterfly Center

The Butterfly Center was embroiled in a lawsuit against the administration as, they allege, Trump’s henchmen couldn’t even go about taking away people’s land with any competence, showing up unannounced and very likely illegally moving away habitat before securing the legal rights to do so. But that lawsuit and other similar ones have taken a big hit after the conservative-hijacked Supreme Court ruled that Trump and his administration need not pay attention to environmental concerns in the building of their mythical wall.

Now, according to the San Antonio Express-News, the first bulldozers have appeared at the National Butterfly Center. The nonprofit sanctuary posted images of the bulldozers on their Facebook page, saying law enforcement officials came and said that National Butterfly Center officials will have no access to their own land south of the levee.
