LOL --- you really are new here, aren't you?

Indeed -- he's clearly underestimated your capacity for narrow-mindedness.

Go for it, AV -- Abandon the last shreds of science and reality and become a full YEC. Once they find out that you even take the parables as literal history, they'll probably elect you as their chief.

Unless I'm missing something --- the parables were meant to be taken literally. They are stories about things that actually happened and, in my opinion, Jesus Himself witnessed.
Not sure if you are Poeing YECs here (hi Nathan ) but I have heard this from YECs themselves. It really show how poor YECs are at understanding biblical metaphor, which destroys any claim they can tell Genesis has to be literal.

It's what happens when you worship the words and miss the message.

Then geology can take a hike.

(Figured I'd say it before AV could)

The great thing about it is if a YEC would take a hike once in a while, they might accidentally see the rocks out there in the world.

Now in AV's case, he's scared to debate the science (knowing he's likely incapable of understanding it in detail), so he "grants" science might be correct by coming up with his "Embedded Age" or "Embedded History" (whatever specific word-game he's into at this point) to "allow" the science to be right and the literal Bible to be right, even when they say completely different things.

AV doesn't have to "take a hike", because the "facts" are simply unimportant.

It's a pretty mealy stance, but at least he's willing to acquiesce that he probably can't understand the science that is put out there. And that's a rarity in someone who debates science from a religious standpoint.

The really interesting point about AV's "Embedded" hypothesis is the biggest "unstated question":

Why does anything have to agree with the Bible?

Ahh, then you'll see AV roll out a litany of "data" (usually he resorts to some "prophecy statistics") which belies his reliance on data.

It is an interesting "Cake-and-eat-it-too" kind of stance.

I won't touch Embedded History --- (Omphalism) --- that's not my bag.

Hope that one day people can think for themselves, and not hold onto old pagan rituals.

By "think for themselves," you mean, after you've educated them first --- right?

No, people need to learn to educate themselves, but of course the first step in helping someone educate themselves is equip them with the necessary tools in order for them to develop their own understanding, of course my children will be allowed to think for themselves, but they will shown evidence, not superstition.

Why does anything have to agree with the Bible?

More importantly, how can anything "agree" or "disagree" with the Bible when the Bible can only say what its readers interpret it as saying?
