  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hi all, a volunteer where I work told me this week that their ex partner's Mum, her children's Nan, has quite unexpectedly just been diagnosed with an illness and is, incredibly sadly, expected to live for around just one more week. Prayer around this would be really appreciated - that she will feel comforted at this time and live for much longer than this, in comfort and happiness. Also for her salvation... and wisdom for myself as to whether to help open up this door in some way, in case she may not be Christian, and if so what to say/do! (I am not sure if she is a believer or not). Thank you so much.

Perhaps a card with a spiritual theme you could pass to her through the volunteer? Maybe one of those with a Bible quote, and a personal note from you saying how you heard about her and noting your phone # if she needs to talk. Let her know in the card you believe in the Lord and the afterlife and you're willing to come pray with her if she wants.

I pray that God would be present with your volunteer's ex-partner's mother and grant her healing. In addition to physical healing, I pray that she would come to know Jesus if she doesn't already.

Father, I pray for Nan that she will come to the saving grace of Jesus Christ if she doesn't know Him already. Please give her comfort and healing. In Jesus Name, Amen.

I pray to God for her to accept Him in her life if she already isn’t a Christian and I also pray that she will be comforted during this hard time in her life. Please God be with her and let Your will be done.

Hi Rachel, that is a nice idea. Although as I am Deputy Manager to the Volunteer, I am unsure whether doing this could be viewed to the Volunteer as overstepping boundaries professionally, if she were to hear about or read my wording in the card, communicating my beliefs to the women. But obviously the women's salvation is more important than this

I agree it's a very sensitive issue. I wish you the best and pray the Lord will direct your steps.
