  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Ten comandments; Intersting

How Do you feel about the Ten comandments?

  • Ten Comandments should be allowed on Government property.

  • Should be no where near Government property.

  • Don't care, doesn't hurt or help.

  • Get religion out of all Government affairs. Off the money, no prayers before meetings.

Christians are just typically not the "truth seekers" of society, and if the government encourages people to be a christian, then they can get away with a lot more. Because their fanbase puts their faith in their candidates based on what they say and their appearance--Not what they actually do.

So yeah, I don't think that is a healthy message to send to non-christians;That the government is a christian sponsor.

Of course, these are my opinions, and MY opinions only. And I've heard quite frequently that my opinions are wrong. So feel free to ignore my post. Maybe another atheist can comment.

So, should we put Native American religious artifacts in courts as well, seeing as this is also the country's history?

No, but if at some point in the past, a Native American religious artifact had been put up, I don't think it should be removed either.

So no new TCs in new court houses?

I'm just trying to get a handle on your beliefs here.

Also, just becasue something is historical, that doesn't make it constitutional.

Does the TCs posting go against the establishment clause?

I would think so, seeing as it says that there is only one God, and do have no Gods over that one God.

Definitly a danger there, if that is something that the government is posting.

I mean, that's the same as the government saying that there is only one God, isn't it?

No. That is saying that at some point in the past, this symbol represented the faith of the majority of people living in that area.

Let's remember that government represents the people, and is not some foreign entity which doles out laws. If the people wanted it there, they could have it there. If the people believed there is only one God, and wanted a symbol of that in front of their courthouse, government could not block that decision/desire. (Of course, govt. would have to be sure that everyone in that community wanted it there, but it is safe to say that is possible in times past).
I'm not completely sure the procedure for putting up a monument ( is it a vote? was it donated? etc), and that is important, but i am drawing attention to the fact that at some point the monument represented the faith of majority of the people, and that is a historical fact.

Now i know, this (the historical argument) is not the main argument for those supporting the T.C. monument being there, but it is still worth considering is all i'm sayin.
