I had this idea not to long ago... I was starting to look into D&D(not any more) without knowing what it was about. But I put it down and decided to create a Christian-Based paper/pencil RPG that would be a whole lot less Satanic. Being a big Final Fantasy fan, I thought this would be simple. It turned out to be a little more complex than I thought, but I'm still working on it. I don't have a name for it and am not even close to finishing it, but for starters: there is only one "race" which is human. You can have different skin color, such as white, black, hispanic, asian, etc. There is the choice of male or female, height, weight, age, (again) color of skin, etc. There is no Good or Evil when it comes to your character, because technically all humans are evil. So I came up with this idea that when you start, you are a "sinner", and throughout the game you always will be. I haven't thought of things like jobs, weapons, and armor, but I'm think of things right now. Items might include things like the Holy Grail or something. So, what do you think of my idea?

I really can't help there much. . .I'm a writer, but I'm more into the sci-fi/futuristic/whatever you want to call it angle, I have no problem with writing in characters that aren't fully or aren't at all human, I have no problem with making some characters "better" than others although all are sinners, and my style is different than yours.

Sorry I couldn't be of much help: You might want to ask a user here named Blessed-one (she writes good fanfiction sometimes) and another user named LookingLand. Also, check out the Creative Writing section-just be forewarned, not everyone will like your idea.

Again, sorry for not being very helpful and I hope you can do that-I'd be a buyer if you could make it work. -^.^-

a paper/pencil RPG? that's exactly what we're doing in the creative writing center! in fact, i've started a fantasy rpg which has to do with Christians fighting evil (both sides can use magic), though i haven't done a good enough job in emphasising Christianity in the story.

that idea of yours sounds good, but what is the goal of the story... do the characters start out as non-christians, or christians? if there wasn't a good versus evil plot (this type is usually easier to work with), what is the plot like?

ahh, the plot... well, you start out as a non-Christian in a non-Christian world. the Word of God has been forgotten, and it is your job to restore it. so therefore, you go around learning and teaching the Word of God, fighting and defeating foes such as demons or wizards, and getting through tough dungeons. now for the dungeons... obviously, there are things like treasures, monsters, and bosses, but i thought of another idea; many of the tasks in the dungeon are completed by clues, but not just any clues, verses from the Bible. cool, huh? well, there's more coming tomorrow, so no need to wait very long!

Thanks for the compliment, Blessed-one, although I've never played Final Fantasy -- I don't own any game type things. Only the computer, and no computer games. So I don't really know anything about that. But I've been doing paper/pencil rpg's for about two years, ever since we got our first keyboard.

Moses' staff
the Ark of the Covenant (kinda hard to carry around, but . . . )
Dead sea Scrolls (or any other scrolls for that matter)
Crown of Thorns/and/or/nail
Splinter of Wood
Discarded linen strips (Jesus)
Incense/spices used by Mary/Martha
Joseph's coat
Spear (used on Jesus' side)
Lamb wool
Chains (used on Paul/Silas)
Manger
Scarlet rope (Rahab)
David's sling/Goliath's sword
David's shepherd crook

most of these items are equipment, weapons, armor, etc. the others do things like heal HP or MP, Raises Strength, Defense, etc, or they have other purposes.

you do mean this to be paper/pencil RPG right? it sounds so much like a video game rpg..... lol, though this type of writing rpg is not unheard of. It's keeping track of all the points and stuff that gets tedious.

And tedious it is... I'm planning on making this into both a paper/pencil RPG and a video game RPG. I heard there is a game-making software for the computer and that you can save your games on floppy disks and CDs (and I have a Burner/copier so it works out great ). After I buy that and copy the game onto a CD, I could copyright it and make a business by selling the game. Problem is, which game company is going to publish a Christian RPG?

I'm currently working on the weapons (the ones that are bought in shops, not the ones that are found...) and storyline (for the console RPG). I am basically done with the items, but still need the main, playable character to be, well, not Jesus. I'll make up a name later, and that's about it for the recent news of this game.

I'm also adding (and taking out) a lot of classes for the characters. Instead of druids (knowing that the druids from history are always members of cults) there will be something else (I don't know what that something might be, so, any ideas?). I'll keep Paladin, Barbarian, and Fighter, but I'm getting rid of Sorcerers, wizards, clerics, mages, and any other magic-based classes. Instead, I'm adding a few classes where they use "Power of God", in other words, magic that is given to you by God in order to make people beleive in Him. I need a name for them, too. I'm getting rid of Rogues due to their thievery (which is a sin and against the 10 Commandments). Any other thoughts?
