  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I saw a program on TV that had to do with floods. Flood planes make very good ground to build on. They are flat and level, there are no trees or anything in your way. The soil is very fertile from the silt from the river when it floods. The only problem is, ever so many years they flood. It could be 10 or 15 years, it could be every 50 years, but sooner or later they will flood.

It is interesting when there is a flood and they go in with the TV camera to see the reaction of the people. They think it is a tragedy, they are all upset over losing their crop and maybe their house. The one thing they do not do is think that OH, I live on a flood plane so I have to expect that every now and then, there is going to be a flood. People think they can beat the odds somehow. Even though the odds are 100% that every so many years the land they are on is going to flood.

I was attending a church that was hit by a tornado. The pastor said God had been speaking to him to build a bigger church, but he was not listening to God. Then when a tornado came along and blew the roof off of the church, he decided then that it was time to build a bigger church.

Of course I do not know why God would have had to talk to him. There are are least 4 rather big housing developments with hundreds of new houses and familys moving in all around that church. All he had to do was open his eyes to see all the new homes being built and he could have figured that there were going to be a lot of new people attending the church.

If sometimes God uses natural disaster to punish people, and sometimes they just occur because there are hostile environments on the Earth, how do you tell the difference between natural disasters meant to punish people and natural disasters that just occur naturally?

Anyone who can tell me?

Thanks.
