yep,that's my tat... vertically down between my shoulder blades in maroon red with orange and yellow shading around the letters like a sunburst kinda glow thing.

no good pics yet. but soon maybe.

i'm going to get another tattoo or two in the next few years... one on my shoulder blade i think. another i haven't yet decided.

Well this subject is of interest to me. I have always complained bc my husband got one last year. I did not agree with putting it on his body! But had no concrete scriptures to disagree with my personal feelings...... Does anybody know any that relate to writing on yourselves

As was stated before there is a scripture in Leviticus that has to do with tattooing, but it's about remembering dead people or something like that. There really is nothing wrong with it... it's just ink placed under a certain level of skin. Much like simply writing on ones hand to remember something, but it wont wash away (unless it's done by an amateur)

I am like horu00, from the previous page. I prefer plain skin. I know what you guys are thinking..."we're not in the old testament now!" but I couldn't imagine Jesus piercing himself and going through the pain of having his body tattoed. Personally I'd find the time, pain and money unnecessary.

This is what Adam Clarke, a christian of the 1700's ,says about the above bible passage:

"It was a very ancient and a very general custom to carry marks on the body in honour of the object of their worship. All the castes of the Hindoos bear on their foreheads or elsewhere what are called the sectarian marks, which distinguish them, not only in a civil but also in a religious point of view, from each other.
Most of the barbarous nations lately discovered have their faces, arms, breasts, &c., curiously carved or tattooed, probably for superstitious purposes. Ancient writers abound with accounts of marks made on the face, arms, &c., in honour of different idols; and to this the inspired penman alludes..."

The human body, I believe looks beautiful without piercings, or anything like that. Whatever you do with your body...treat it as a holy temple of God (1Cor6:19)

My intention with this post is not to be judgemental, but I just wanted to give my 2 cents about tattoing, and it's been done. God bless you guys

Isaiah talks about how He was pierced for our transgressions. Granted, he wasn't pierced in the same way as a tattoo, but he was pierced and went through a LOT more pain than it takes to get a tattoo. The pain of a tattoo is comparable to the pain of a cat scratch or less.

I've got 3 tattoos personally. A cross on my left shoulderblade (only about 4 -5 inches tall). A piece of celtic knotwork representing the trinity on my forearm below the elbow. The third is an icthus on my right wrist. I did a fair amount of Biblical research before I got my first one to make sure it wasn't sinful. And I came to the conclusion that it wasn't. However, if others do feel it is sinful I totally respect that, I just don't agree. I would never get anything other than a Christian symbol tattoed on myself though, that is where I draw the line. The first two were admittedly 50% because I thought tattoos where cool. But the icthus on my wrist was completely for 2 reasons:
1. As a reminder to myself who I am living for and what God did for me.
2. Sort of a way to let those around me know what I believe in. My way of saying that it is not something I am ashamed of.

I think it all depends on why the person is getting a tattoo and what it is of. Also, whether it involves some other kind of sin such as disobedience to parents. For example, if a teenager goes out and gets a tattoo even though his/her parents have said "no" then it would be wrong because they are not honoring their parents. Or if someone gets a tattoo to annoy or upset their spouse, that would be wrong because they are not behaving in a loving way towards their spouse. But if parents/spouse if applicable are ok with it, and it is being done for good reasons, and it is an image or phrase that isn't evil then I don't think it is a problem.

Personally, I don't like the look of large tattoos. One or two small ones look much better to me. I know that some people view their bodies as a sort of blank canvas and see covering large areas in tattoos or whatever as the ultimate form of wearable art... but in my opinion when it comes to tattoos less is more. For example, I've seen people with their whole arms covered in tattoos and I think it looks gross - expecially on old men. That's something everyone thinking about a tattoo should consider - how is this going to look in 10, 20, or 50 years from now? Placement can be a big issue there, as certain body parts tend to get especially flabby or stretched or whatever, which results in deformed looking tattoos.

I don't think that I would ever get a tattoo myself. Temporary tattoos or a regular drawing that will wash off eventually are as far as I would go myself. Less risk of infection and no permanent marks to deal with that way

Well, just like I posted on a similar thread to this, I don't find tattoos attractive in the opposite sex nor would I ever have one.

I'm so tempted to getting a tattoo. I told myself that when I reach my weight goal of 220lbs. I was going to get one. I still have 40lbs to lose. I kept thinking what to get because this is going to be on me for the rest of my life. I was thinking of getting an Alpha & Omega. I finally decided on the Green Lantern emblem.

True that man. It's very easy for people to pick and chose which laws they feel others should live by.
