His figures ... taken from the Bible ... show how long the earth has been in existence; not how old it is.

If I created a pot two weeks ago, but faked it to make it look two centuries old, it would still be only two weeks old.

And if tried to sell it to somebody for £1,000, saying that it was two centuries old, telling the judge that, although it had only existed for two weeks, its "embedded age" was two centuries, that wouldn't stop me from spending some time in one of Her Majesty's guest houses.

Making claims on events that are unknowable is a pointless activity. If there is no difference between an old Earth and a young Earth made to look old, we have to go with what fits the evidence the most. Since the latter demands a deity for which there isn't any evidence, then old Earth wins by default.

In a sense, yes, in that it was only created a few thousand years ago. However, without evidence that the Earth was created at all, the lack of physical distinction between a truly old Earth and a young Earth made to look old hurts your position.
