Considering I used to be a YEC, I am taking any questions on Creationism.

Did God do it?
From which standpoint? your current one or YEC?Considering I used to be a YEC, I am taking any questions on Creationism.
From which standpoint? your current one or YEC?
1. How old was Adam the day God created him?My old YEC standpoint.
1. How old was Adam the day God created him?
2. Is the earth 4 days older than the stars?
Is the case closed?
Did the amount of mass/energy start out at zero, then raise to its current level over a six-day period?
Aren't you describing creatio ex deo, then? No. Since God existed there was already an infinite amount of mass/energy to begin with. Though God is supernatural there are many verses in the Bible that support God having mass/energy. Therefore, there was never a period of zero mass/energy.
Aren't you describing creatio ex deo, then?
So the YEC position is that there is no such thing as creatio ex nihilo?Essentially yes but since God cannot be detected through scientific means (unless he wants to be detected), it appears to be creatio ex nihilo. Technically the Bible does not specifically say there was nothing before creation.
Wikipedia said:The Latin phrase ex nihilo means "out of nothing". It often appears in conjunction with the concept of creation, as in creatio ex nihilo, meaning "creation out of nothing" — chiefly in philosophical or theological contexts, but also occurs in other fields.
In theology, the common phrase creatio ex nihilo ("creation out of nothing"), contrasts with creatio ex materia (creation out of some pre-existent, eternal matter) and with creatio ex deo (creation out of the being of God).
So the YEC position is that there is no such thing as creatio ex nihilo?
You have to remember that God is omnipotent. A being with infinite energy cannot "add on" more energy. God spoke the universe into existence, using his infinite energy to create it. Since God's energy is infinite, none of his power was taken away during the creation process, thereby appearing to be creating from nothing.
Zec 4:6 Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the word of the LORD unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts.
I'm not schooled enough in YEC to disagree, but I'm going to anyway.
I don't think that's the consensus of opinion -- but I could be wrong.
