2 Cor 13:5
5 Examine yourselves
as to whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Do you not know yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?—unless indeed you are disqualified. 6 But I trust that
you will know that we are not disqualified.
The same thing that happens every day --I find over and over that I (according to my own judgement), fail the test, since Scripture says so many things about the life of the redeemed vs the carnal.
That is an interesting statement given the text you are responding to.
My salvation is displayed by my obedience, not caused by it.
Yes that is what Christ said in Matthew 7 - "not every one who says Lord Lord will enter the kingdom" and also "you will know them by their fruits - good fruit does not come from a bad tree" - the bad tree does not produce good fruit to become a good tree.
as scripture warns us in 1 Cor 6
7 Now therefore, i
t is already an utter failure for you that you go to law against one another. Why do you not rather accept wrong? Why do you not rather
let yourselves be cheated? 8
No, you yourselves do wrong and cheat, and
you do these things
to your brethren! 9
Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God?
Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, 10 nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners
will inherit the kingdom of God.
Rom 2:13

not the hearers of the law are just in the sight of God, but the doers of the law will be
justified;
vs 16 ... on the day when according to my Gospel God will judge
26 Therefore, if an uncircumcised man
keeps the righteous requirements of the law, will not his uncircumcision be counted as circumcision? 27 And will not the physically uncircumcised, if he fulfills the law, judge you who,
even with
your written
code and circumcision,
are a transgressor of the law? 28
For he is not a Jew who is one outwardly, nor is circumcision that which is outward in the flesh; 29 but
he is a
Jew who is one inwardly; and
circumcision is that of the heart, in the Spirit, not in the letter; whose praise
is not from men but from God.
