I took the rare opportunity a couple years ago to visit the Nauvoo temple during open-house. This was a wierd place indeed. As I drove into town, one of the first things I noticed was moroni on top of the building. Another thing that quickly caught my eye was the inverted pentagrams( inverted five pointed star contained in a circle) all around the top of it. I made my way to the entrance and was fitted with plastic baggies over my shoes. I got a thorough tour of the whole building, and even the locker room where temple clothes are kept. Several rooms had elaborate paintings on the walls,in the celestial room, no one was to make any noise. A few things stuck out in my mind as rather strange. In the marriage sealing room , there was a seat with a mirror on each side. The mirrors had a distortion to them, which made the infinite reflections "curve" to appear as part of a circle. I suppose the strangest thing was a carving of the "eye of horus" which was over the altar.

Did anyone else ever go to an LDS temple open house?
