  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I thought it was crap :/ IMHO, the costuming sucked, the effects sucked, the lyrics sucked, the singing was cheesy, and while the plot was interesting they failed to execute it in an interesting manner. Y'all are free to disagree, but I thought it was a waste of time. Then again, I usually hate musicals. On the other hand, there are musicals I love, so it's not just that I'm biased.

What makes me sad is that the cast was so great. Alan Rickman, Helena Bonham Carter, Johnny Depp....I love these actors, but it just didn't work here.

Perfume should be reason enough to not see a movie just because Alan Rickman's in it....
aw, I love that film. Then again, I love the book too :)

I finally watched the movie. If I were to rank it, I think I'd give it a B-minus.

I really loved something about the ambiance of it--not all of the blood, but other things about it had an really artistic nature and a lot of style. The singing was better than I expected it would be. There are a lot of things I liked about the film. I can't put my finger on why I think it's pretty good and not great. Maybe it's just that I didn't like the ending or think that the basic story had a little more potential than how it was realized by the movie. It was a few hairs below what I hoped it would be, but I enjoyed it nonetheless.

I loved the singing and the songs, and I think Johnny Depp is the only actor I really like in Hollywood...well, except that girl that was in Pirates with him...I know her name but I forgot it right now, lol.

There was a little but to much blood for me, and the whole people meat pies thing was kind of gross, lol. Though...what was it about again? I mean, I know it was about his wife, etc. etc. but I got kind of lost at that point. :D

I thought it was better on second viewing. To me it's always a little bit awkward when actors I haven't heard singing before burst into song, but I guess I got used to it.

It's really quite a masterfully executed movie and the casting is pretty much spot on - although I'm not a big fan of the girl playing Joanna.
Then again, that could just be the fact that Green Finch and Linnet Bird is such an annoying song.

The first time we watched it it was enough that we didnt think we wanted to watch it again.
But after a couple more times and really starting to understand the storyline, which requires getting ones mind off the fake blood, it started to look more like a work of Shakespeare or something...a tragic love story gone horribly wrong.
I like how they did Sweeneys 'decent' into madness there in the one scene, I didnt catch onto it the first time around because the blood was too distracting.
Had they made the movies with less gore, Id have really loved it.
The ending is so horrible when he finds out that in his own madness he unwittingly killed his own wife that he loved.
Its like a chick flick with razors.

Id like to see a less gory 'made for TV' version and see if I liked it without the hack and slash distraction.

:)
