  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Ok I'm torn

I don't like gore but I'm a fan of Tim Burton and Johnny Depp

So I went to see the film and I loved it though I had my moments when I winced and had to anticipate the worst

If you're a fan of either one, go see it ;)

p.s. Sasha Baron Cohen a.k.a. 'Borat' is quite memorable! hehe

Even with the lack of realism, the blood sprays and whatnot are still pretty graphic. Ah well, still a pretty interesting movie. Still can't help but wonder, though, how the soundtrack would have been if Elfman had done it... very similar to something he'd do, yet it was given (understandably and without regrets) to the guy who did the original score. Still, would have loved to see Elfman's take on it.

But as stomach-churning as all this charnel gore is, Burton offers something that's even worse. He manages to give killing and death an appealing sheen. Depp's grimly handsome Sweeney, for instance, smolders with a singular and oddly magnetic passion. He may be a mass murderer, but he makes ripping out someone's throat look so intensely ... fulfilling. [quote/]

This is precisely why I won't watch this movie. I'm fascinated by the commercials but I would never view it as it's quite dark...and I don't like Tim Burton's movies in general....

Saw this movie over the weekend. Had no idea it was a musical. My husband will not even watch Disney movies since they always bust out in a song. I liked the movie though. It does have its moments of gore, but as stated above the blood is bright red, and not stomach turning. I do have to say some of the 'slayings' were pretty AWFUL.
It had the feel of "Little Shop of Horrors" . I also like Johnny Depp and thought the singing was really good.

It was not what I expected, but all in all it was okay.

I have been listening to the song "Epiphany" on youtube for a couple of days now. It is amazing. I liked the movie the first time, but I think I need to learn the lyrics of all the songs, and then see it again. It's hard to hear some of the lyrics through the accents.

Multiple accents singing different words all at once really fast! Madness!

I tried watching stage productions of it on youtube, and couldn't understand a bloody thing they said.
