Survivor!!!

I watch to see how people interact, given the Survivor situation. If that's not something your interested in, I wouldn't try to get you to watch it. ;) Technically, there isn't a "good reason."

If you don't want to watch it - that's great - it's your decision. But why come into a thread with fans who watch the show and state this  Let's keep to the OP, please :)

At times it does, but one thing I've noticed watching the show is that there are definite crown jewels who gives up the prize because it's the right thing to do (Colby), who keep their word even when it's unpopular (Rupert), etc moral decisions.

And I'd venture that the survivors who remain "famous" tend to be the genuine "good guys", even though they don't take home the big prize. For example, they said Rupert was THE most popular Survivor ever, and he barely made it through the first half of the show last season.

But I have to admit, it's the unexpected interactions between varying personalities that's fun to watch, and I love the physical challenges.

As a follower of the Lord Jesus Christ I believe I have a responsibility try to wake up others who claim to be Believers to the way the Enemy is going after us in these last days. One of the most powerful ways he attempts to destroy us is by getting us to program our minds with the garbage that's being pumped out on the tube and the big screen. As I look at the threads on this site I see many Christians watching programming that in no way helps them to grow in their relationship with God or even helps them maintain the statis quo. I'm sure the Lord has no objection to our being entertained. But I'm also sure that He is disturbed when we allow ourselves to be desensitized to those things He has forbidden such as homosexuality, illicit sex, violence and profanity.

I am not anti-TV or movies. As a matter of fact I'm in the process of establishing a chain of theatres I intend to use not only for entertainment but for evangelization. They are powerful mediums that can be used for good. But many Christians today seem to find almost anything that is presented through these mediums as acceptable entertainment apparently not realizing that Satan is programming them to buy into what Scripture clearly teaches is unacceptable.

Thanks for the explanation.

Anyway I try to find the positives in things. I've really never thought of the show as being the work of Satan. Come on, that's a stretch don't you think? Does watching Survivor effect my relationship with God? Absolutely not. I watch the show because I think it's hilarious how people will become when $$$ is involved. I just find this, the challenges, and the "hey, who's going home this week" suspense to be entertaining.

I am both a fan and a hater of Survivor. I watch and enjoy it on tv or tape (I work every other Thursday night), then make fun of the participants, the editing and their antics on a reality tv message board. Despite this bi-polarism, I am a Survivor fanboy.

The Good:
Alicia is the best looking man I've ever seen. I like her swagger.
Jerri is being more low key so far. I still dislike her, but less so.
Shii Ann is cute and provides some very funny comments.
Rupert has gone down in my estimation since the first Pearl Islands eps, but he's still a force to be reckoned with.
Rudy' still Rudy, I hated to see him go.
Ethan's my favorite pretty boy on reality tv.

The Bad:
Lex is disturbing, but he's got penache. Almost on my good list.
The Robfather is an idiot.
Tom is a lecherous drunk who I can barely understand.
Amber is worthless other than as eye candy.
Jenna M. wimped out - either you go and play, or you stay with mom.
Jenna L. sure does {female dog} a lot.

The Ugly:
Richard Hatch. Good riddence you smug, naked, odious freak.

Maybe I'm missing something. But is this forum a theology debate forum?

I guess, where there is an opportunity to come with soapbox in hand pointing out the splinters in other people's eyes, someone will feel compelled to do so.

Why not let this thread remain a calm environment for people to talk together about television without feeling they will be attacked for it. Let's leave that sort of thing for the appropriate forums shall we?

Thank you

This forum has a Survivor topic? Sweet! :)

Last episode wasn't great, but ya gotta feel sorry for the poor editors who had to work with no immunity challenge and no tribal council and stretch a whole lot of back-and-forth tribal mingling into an hourlong show. It got a little tiresome, heh.

Next ep looks great -- Evil Jerri is back, and there's a new twist! Can't wait. :)

BTW, I am deeply in love with Colby Donaldson. Yeehaw!

A letdown with Sue just taking off this week- no tribal council. snore:sleep:
It makes me very mad  when these people just keep leaving the show - first it was Oston last Survivor, now this time it's Jenna and Sue this time around. These people just don't realize how lucky they are to be on that show! I can't believe they just quit!!!

Boston Rob becomes more and more cocky- I CAN'T BELIEVE RUPERT IS GOING TO TRUST HIM!!!!! NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I really like Rupert but he hasn't shown yet that he's a "smart" player. Rob will stab him in the back whenever he gets the opportunity.

Well, I agree with you about Oston. He left because he was basically a big whiney cry baby.

Now Jenna on the other hand, left because her mother was dying. Her mother died 7 days after she got back, right? I'm sure she's glad she got to spend some time with her mother before she died. The game shouldn't have been more important than that. If she had stayed that would have been wrong.

And Sue, I'm sure didn't sign on to have a man touch her inappropriatly like that. She had every right to be really angry. A person has their limits of what their willing to put up with. And that was way over the line. A woman's dignity is certiainly worth more than a silly game. I probably would have left too. And I'm a little apalled that nobody seemed to be on her side about it on the show.

I still don't know who I want to win this thing. I usually have some idea by this stage of it.

I was very impressed with Shi-Ann in what she said about not being stupid enough to reveal herself to Colby even after the provocative things he said to her about how she played the game. That's one thing I always wondered.....why people are so "blurty" with everything their thinking or planning to do.

I have to disagree with Jenna Morosca. Her mother was sick when she signed out. She went with her mother's encouragement. Either go and play the game to honor her, or don't and stay to be with her.

Personally I think without HeidiHo she wouldn't have made it very far anyway.

I'm happy she's gone. She grossed me out with that pee on the boat thing. I'm not going to sue her though.

I watched it again and she wanted to take the path that Richard was on, even though it wasn't any closer. Last thing that I could make out that she said was, "I want to take this one".

So, you've never made a bad choice and then made another choice to try to do the right thing? (Not trying to get personal.) Of course her mother encouraged her to go...that's what mothers do. Sure, going in the first place was not a very good decision, granted. But, when Jenna realized that her priorities were wrong, she changed her mind. Sorry if you think she should have stayed in the game. But I think that would have been a life shattering, bad choice...one she would have I'm sure, regretted for the rest of her life.

I'm not Jenna Morosca so I can't speak for her, but as I see it she either should have gone and played through or not gone. I'm not unsympathetic to her plight, but I'm a viewer, I'm not her friend or family member and I'm concerned about her (and Osten's precidents) and the effect they might have on the show.

I already see it with Sue's quitting. The show is called "Survivor," not vacation. I'm sure Mike Skupin would have stayed in the Outback, burns an all, if he were physically able to.

Yeah, so? She wanted to push the guy in the water like everyone else who did a "challenge". They obviously loathe each other. It was't a surprise to me that she wanted to stand her ground. He could have gone around too. But, he chose not to as well.

I didn't really like her abrasive personality either. But, a woman being abrasive or in the "wrong" place when a man decides to be inappropriate in this manner is not a very good argument for who's fault it is.
