• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Yep, COE is Compulsive Overeating. :) I don't know the difference between BED or COE, though - perhaps BED is considered to be more serious? or maybe they are the same thing. Hmmm.

Bec, are you taking some you-time? because you are going to need it. You can't get through another term with little to no rest. Try and take care of yourself... how have ED/SI stuff been lately?

Ladybug, Ari, Kerin, Katey - how are you guys doing today? :hug:s

compulsive over-eating sounds about right:)

thankfully - I did not gain weight since last night and last night I did really bad again in terms of eating. it's not a pleasant thought to go to bed and be wondering if you are going to gain weight the next day.

I'll be thinking about all of you in this thread today - sorry, I'm not the greatest at addressing people individually - something I gotta work on majorly :sigh:

It's okay that you're not good at addressing people individually. It takes time and effort to do it... much like reaching out in real life. I hope that doesn't sound really stupid, but it's kind of how it worked for me. Knowing that I am in a nonjudgmental atmosphere really helps. :)

I know the feeling about fear of waking up and having gained weight, but not because of COE... just because of my whacked metabolism. Heh. It's always a gamble, but I am learning to go with the flow (so to speak) and tolerate ups and downs with weight. Blah. Hard to handle mentally, but I am getting there.

In other news... I cut badly tonight. It almost warranted stitches and it was about twenty minutes before I could bandage it (hope that's not TMI or triggering), and I'm starting to scare myself. It goes so easily to being really bad, and while I still want to cut, I question the sanity of my desire to do so. (About time, huh? )

:sigh:

Ari  How are you doing?

Yeh I've talked with Jarrod about it all, and he is supportive but very condemning of the act of cutting, not of me. It's something over which we've had upsets, and I really don't feel like I can turn to him when I want to cut. He doesn't understand.

I get worried when I hear of people cutting themselves to relieve themselves. For me, cutting is a horrific thought - ugh - that's my #1 reason for not knowing how to cook - I do NOT want to cut my finger or something with a knife - EEEEEK. **shudder**

I'm kind of glad that cutting is nothing short of fearsome for me at this point - and I am really sorry that I don't know how to imagine how it must be for you all. It's a scary thought indeed.

Tonight - I did eat too much I guess - but for my standards (which are not even standards considering my eating habits), I ate a lot but as far as going overboard, I don't know about that. But the potatoes I ate tonight were very gross - something about the outer texture of them - and I'm feeling a but nauseous right now because of them. It's really weird for me to feel this way after eating because usually I just want to eat and eat - tonight I just can't - yuck I hope I don't throw up.

Ladybug, I'm glad that cutting is a horrific thought for you. I mean, it's nice to have people that understand, but usually those who understand have gone through it themselves, and I wouldn't wish that on much of anyone!! It does help relieve tension in my body, but it creates other problems, like guilt. Heh. Not a magical cure. But it does help, in some way.

Did you get through last night okay? Feeling any better? Are nighttimes your worst time as far as eating goes?

How is everyone doing today?

Bec, please try and take care of yourself. I hate to see you stretching yourself so thin... if you do so many uni activities, you are going to get exhausted and won't do as well on anything. Please, sweetie. Cut down on some of the extracurrics, and get some you-time in there, somehow and somewhere. I'm sorry to hear that things aren't going well with ED/SI stuff :( I forget, are you seeing anyone, a counselor/therapist, a psych?

Angeldove, how are you doing?

Angeldove, how are you doing?

I'm doing alright. My tummy is finally back to normal--- I *think*--- after having some kind of bug in it. I think I might have just eaten something that upset it.

I'm trying to be constructive with my eating as well--- instead of mindless over-snacking that I tend to do, I'm trying to keep it to smaller meals and much smaller snacks. Since I'm living with my Sister, it's been alot easier to plan meals--- I can even skip making a meat with it now (I love eating meat but it's getting too expensive). I made this wonderful couscous with fried green peppers and onions which I added some curry seasoning too. It was awesome :yum:

And in ten days, my boyfriend is coming to visit me for a week! Haven't seen him, cept for webcams, since October... so I'm so thrilled. He designed a rose gold with a pearl ring for our two year anniversary, which was April 1st. So he's going to give it to me when he comes to visit--- I think it's so awesome that he actually designed it :D

But now I don't want to do anything except get ready to see him... I have to still unpack stuff, start doing some planning for the school year (I'm teaching), and clean up my kitchen. And we're getting a new dishwasher coming in tomorrow!?! I've never had one before, but I'm getting sick of washing dishes after 15+ years ;)

I'm glad to hear that you're doing okay. Being constructive with eating is hard... hehe... except for me (and a lot of us) it's going the opposite way, as I am sure you're aware. It's so hard for me to not fall into the snare of eating too little. Especially since I am a vegetarian and have to limit carbs due to a messed up metabolism, it's hard for me to make sure that I eat enough without going over my carb limit. Blah!

Awww. My fiancé and I did the webcam thing for a year... August oh six was when I met him in person (met him on here in oh four), then we didn't see each other again until December oh six, then again in May oh seven, and then he moved here last August (from twelve hundred miles away). It's tough being in a long-distance relationship. How did you meet Sean? and that's really cool that he designed you a ring. :) Are you going to be getting engaged, do you know?

Heh, a little bit of tangent from the purpose of this thread, but that's okay. :p
