I have a question for my fellow Christians. Is Superman and all other superheroes, appropriate for Christians to watch?

I haven't really thought about that.Nymphalidae said:Totally inappropriate.

You should not watch superhero cartoons or read superhero comics if they do un-Christian things? Doesn't everyone do un-Christian things?ChristianCenturion said:I haven't really thought about that.
I suppose it depends on what Superman/Batman/Spiderman/Etc. do. If they are being cast as heroes and they do unChristian things, then that wouldn't be appropriate IMO.
What about a overtly Hindu or humanist hero?If they help the needy, fight against evil, and still adhere to a higher moral code that aligns with Christian ethics, I can't see why the mere imagination of it would be bad.
There is no difference between a super hero's powers and harry potter's powers... except in regards to JK Rowlings fanciful escapist stories she uses the taboo word magic to describe them.cameronw said:Harry Potter is not a super hero. But thats a different subject all together.
I would have to agree with CC.

It was a hypothetical. It does not seem right to me that a Christian should be able to watch or read about superheros with Christian ethics only.NothingButTheBlood said:I can't think of any superhero with a religious affiliation.

In any case, the one example that comes to mind immediately is Nightcrawler, a devout Catholic.
Yes. And I vaguely remember something about Ben Grimm being Jewish.NothingButTheBlood said:Now that you mention it wasn't DareDevil a Catholic too?

On a lighter note, there's this guy: http://www.bibleman.com/bibleman/home.jsp
Like others have said, it depends on the super hero... for instance superman has far more values that would be closer to the CHristian ideal than the punisher.christianmarine said:I have a question for my fellow Christians. Is Superman and all other superheroes, appropriate for Christians to watch?
