I don't think we can follow Jesus (Literally) anymore but by heart or prayer.

'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.'

Mt. 25:40

I'm curious, since the Buddha is dead, how could you literally follow him? The best you could do is find someone who imitated him well...

If you want to find a holy Christian man to imitate, visit a monastery. Or visit your parish, and try to find good role models there. Don't you have a God-parent? What are they doing to help you with this?

I was not sponsored by a godmother or godfather . (I don't think not sure). . However, I do chat with my biological mom about everything concerning Religion.

You might want to go back and reread that post. Epistemes' information on Buddhism does not come from a college course as a secondary class/ elective, it comes from him having once been Buddhist which would mean he did experience the fullness of that religion. You might want to consider taking that to heart since it seems you are going to do what you always do and ignore your fellow Orthodox that plea with you to speak to your priest and quit being your own spiritual father and isolating yourself from other Orthodox.

*chuckle* You might say that but its not correct. I know I'm supposed to be under the tutelage of someone.

Going out on a limb here, might I suggest that Catholicism has the answers you are looking for? Were you a Catholic at one time?

He is probably unaware of the fact that ProScribe is a Western Rite Orthodox since he is using the generic Christian Icon .

After all ProScribe does post in the Chapel Sub Forum on OBOB .

I'm not defending his [ steve_bakr ] post but explaining why , in innocence , he may have made the suggestion.

Have you been baptized or chrismated in the Orthodox church yet?

Since you were in fact baptized & chrismated in the Orthodox church you do have a sponsor. I have never heard of a person being brought into the church without a sponsor, so I would be highly surprised you don't have a sponsor. Perhaps you should consider talking to your mom and/ or to the priest who chrismated you if you cannot recall who your sponsor is.

Yes, that someone is your priest and/ or sponsor. That is what we keep telling you whenever you get restless & start looking elsewhere. Talk to your priest let him know what is going on and you need more of his time & instruction. There is no shame in telling your priest you need more help, but if you don't do it he will never know your priest isn't a mind reader. Quit searching outside of the Church for instruction that will only get you even more lost and confused then you are right now!

One should not become too attached to the Priest.

Your Spiritual Father gets to know you , because he talks with you , as well, if not better , than you do. He knows what your life is about , he knows about your family , he knows about your problems and helps you deal with them. He plays a very important part in helping you with your spiritual life.

This sort of comment is , I think what worries us

you know OF - you should know the priest in your church ,not know of him

I'm confused Wes, you said you want to be under the tutelage of someone, you want to find a mentor, a spiritual guide. Yet you say you are afraid of getting too close to your priest? I don't understand this...
