  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Yet he advocates for abortion politically. His religion means nothing to him in the public arena where he prefers secular values over his supposed religion. This is why I don't take his claim to be a Catholic very seriously.
Perhaps he would live his life by Catholic values but not force those values onto the general public??

I don't know Biden's stance on this stuff, but is it possible that a Catholic person chooses to accept values for themselves but doesn't take it up to force everyone around them to live as if they were also Catholics?

Yes, that's the trouble with Biden. He must not be a "real" Christian because all "real" Christians want to make Christian sins illegal for the entire population whether they are Christians or not, and anyone who disagrees must be "advocating" for those sins. MAGA!

I don't know if this applies to Biden or not. I would hope so.
I'm pro-life. Not just abortion but also euthanasia, capital-punishment and being pro-life extends to other issues such as war, guns, economics etc. I would rather see a politician actually do something toward reducing/eliminating abortions rather than put up some phoney law that will be struck down in less than an hour to appease the single-issue voters.
This actually happened in my state last week. Our governor signed an anti-abortion bill that was struck down less than 45 minutes later. He has now committed to waste millions more in legal fees and time to pursue it further. He could have accomplished a lot more life saving, including reducing abortions, by expanding medicare, but no. That wouldn't appease the single-issue voters.

Back on topic, the thought of Donald Trump teaching the Christian Faith to anyone is beyond ludacris. Just rewind the tape of his interview with Falwell Jr 4 years ago. Good grief.

I am pro choice but I too would like to see governments do something positive to get the rate of abortions down. It is my understanding that kids with a hopefull future and going through the education system such as tertiary education are less likely to have teenage pregnancies. So providing quality schools and affordable quality education and getting people out of poverty will not only have a positive impact on society but will also reduce the amount of abortions.

I thought you could not pray or read the Bible school. I was just posting a news article.
The teachers cannot lead students in prayer or push a particular religion or worldview ( unless the student asked about it first, but students can pray and study the Bible ( assuming they get their other work done if they wish.

Religion has been an important part of shaping history. It needs to be taught from an object stand point in the context of history and how society has been shaped. That includes Christianity (the power of the Vatican, the result of the fracturing into various protestant groups), Islam (how its factions shape the modern world, how its spread into Spain via the Moors influenced Europe), Hinduism, etc...

In order to get an understanding of that context, you gotta have a basic understanding of the religions themselves. In both public grade school and private Catholic high school, we at least went over the basic tenants of Islam. It would have been nice to go more in depth, but that was pre-911 days so I don't think people thought it was as important to understand.

That's because you're being lied to. So you can be out raged , by the left. Also schools in CA sill do the pledge of allegiance.
