Before, you go on I'm not in anyway supporting them so I hope no one takes offense to this.

Anyways, my question is how do you all feel about family members/bf/gf's seeing strippers? I recently heard a distant friend that I am staying with talk about going to see one and immediately felt very awkward around them! I just don't understand why anyone would want to see one. Or why boyfriends, girlfriends, husbands, wives, fathers, mothers or what not would feel the need to go see them so strongly that they would risk that relationship. Just my opinion and again sorry in advance if I offended anyone!

My thoughts? While they're stripping or what?

Seriously, I've never been to such a show. I don't think I'd want any woman I care for to do that.

The concept honestly doesn't bother me, especially considering that most strip clubs have a "look, but don't touch" policy. If someone I know went to see a stripper, I'd shrug it off.

Strippers are yucky.
Hey now. Strippers are people too.

Well, for myself, if my husband went to see one, I probably wouldnt like it a whole lot but it wouldnt put the relationship at risk for me. I feel confident enough about myself that I would definitely not feel threatened, and I don't consider strippers a threat to me in any way. But that is just me. I can see why some people wouldnt want their sig other going, but I just don't feel that vehement about it. As for why someone would want to see them..my best guess is its just entertainment and a "guy thing". Hormones? I don't know for sure.

Again, this is all JMO.

Blessings!

I know my bf has been to a strip club in the past, and it doesn't really bother me. If he were to go now, though... I might be upset briefly, but on thinking about it, I doubt it would upset me. People can't really help what turns them on, and I have no problem to anyone seeking out what does, so long as they don't harm anyone in doing so. As I don't plan to do a striptease anytime soon, if that's what he wants to see... no harm done.

Yeah I just meant what does everyone think of going to see a stripper?? I know it would crush me if my boyfriend ever went to see one.
To tell you the truth, I don't think even that would bother me.

I'm fine with the concept of pornography, and seeing a stripper is basically the same thing, except it's "live action" and doesn't involve sexual acts, just dancing. So I doubt it would upset me if my boyfriend went to a strip club.

You must have a bf or a guy friend that goes.
Don't worry many guys grow out of this stage as the novelty of it wears off.
If this guy is your bf and him going really bothers you, then let him know. If he goes to them regardless, then it's a testament of how concerned is he is with your feelings. Respect yourself enough to walk away.

As far as strip clubs go... I don't find them moral or immoral.
For some women it's empowering... for others it's demeaning.
Sometimes adventurous couples go together to use it as fuel for wilder physical intimacy. Of course if you have religious hangups this might be hard to imagine. I just wanted to offer you another perspective on it.

But surely you can see that some women would be greatly upset. In that case, harm has been done.

Oh, certainly. I just meant for myself, it'd be fine. If someone wants a relationship with a person, it's generally a good idea to respect them and not do things you know will hurt them.

Just in the way they act....
I know a few, and they act just like regular people. One woman I know is a complete tomboy when she's offstage; the lipstick and heels are all just part of the act. She doesn't act like you'd expect a stripper to. She's a lot of fun to hang out with.

Hi Shirley,
You are certainly free to have to opinions about things and you don't need to appologize for them but I am curious about how many strippers you've actually known in person since you are only 13 years old.
They don't all act the ones on the Jerry Springer show.:)
Often times, strippers are on the defensive because they get called lots of bad names and some lead less than than ideal lives. They get more than their fair share abuse from others too.
Perhaps that's why they might have seemed grumpy to you.

I think Christians have a certain obligation to be humanitarian as well as "ethical". Regardless of your opinion as to whether you/your SO should look at strippers, think of what that stripper has to go through in order to present that opportunity to you.

It is a horrible life. It is full of drugs, drinking, sex, prostitution, rape, violence...

Why would you want to support that?

Constance
