i cant for the life of me figure out what he means when he says in the song"cause i know something the prince never knew"help please!!!!!

I'm late but just guessing...

I believe the song is heavily influenced by the fairy tale Cinderella...hence the name of the song. I think the line "cause I know something the prince never knew" refers to prince charming when he let cinderella go at the ball and didn't chase after her.

I think it has to do with him saying he knows cinderella has to leave and he wants to cherish the time he has with her. While the prince never knew that when he was dancing with her.

It's tough for me as well. Our band at church played this several months back and I had to walk out to gather myself.
