The one that still scares the socks off me is Salem's Lot. I haven't read it as a Christian, though, as some of his new stuff I've started and couldn't get into!

My sis-in-law is from Bangor - they love their home-town hero!

It's just a shame that none of his books are really properly converted to movies. It's just not easily done with the amount of internal dialouge he has in his charecters. Especially things like what I call the flashes. (When one word or words shoots through a charecter's mind and then the paragraph resumes)

The Stand is awesome and my favorite movie of his is Storm of the Century!!!!!!!!!

I agree. Storm of the Century was an amazing movie. It is way up there on my favorite movie list! I loved the acting, and it didn't have a happy-go-lucky ending. It was a movie that really made you think, "what would I do."

Stephen King is amazing. If you get a chance rent the DVD of the movie and listen to SK's commentary, it is very cool.

The Stand is my favorite. When I first read it, I was in the military. I called home and mom said everyone was sick with the flu. I freaked out!!

I read Dreamcatcher but liked the movie much better.

But for some reason, when I started reading "From a Buick 8" I just couldn't get into it. I still haven't finished reading it and it's been months.

Most of the newer works, in my opinion, are not up to SK's usual standards of excellence. That's just my thoughts on it, but I think the older stuff it the better stuff when it comes to his work.
I agree Mylinkay. He ended up with that billion $$ (or whatever) contract for so many books and frankly I think he nearly burned up. That and his accident. I guess he's semi-retired now, living like other Mainahs in Florida part of the year. Oh, what an imagination though!

Did anyone else get insomnia while reading Insomnia? That was freaky!
Yeah, that book was one of the last really good ones I saw from him. Still, for all that he's done that's awesome I can tolerate a bit of sub-par ness from him. Really, it's an awesome achievement to have written as many really really good books as he has regardless.

He has been inspired. What a gift!

I'm reading part 5 of the Dark tower books I ahve been reading them since they first came out. I like the idea he comes up with in book four. In the time line of the books, in book one Roland beat Cort his teacher and became a gunslinger, he went into town to celebrate but you dont find out what happened to him the next day till book four, some tome later.

SK put it this way, in Rolands world barely a day has passed between the two events, his beating Cort and being woken by his father the next morning. In our world of real time several years have passed between the tow events...and interesting concept

Any way I like the King, especually the stand, lot of its themes and characters are coming out in the Dark Tower series.
