thereselittleflower. If you can't see the happenings between God and Solomon, where Solomon acted on his own accord, God warned him, Solomon continued and begged for God's inclusion, God granted it with a condition, solomon broke his promise.....I'm afraid I can't help you any further.

I hope you know that the bible is a story, it tells us about the bad things and the good things. I hope you don't think that we should slaughter animals and sacrifice them because the ancients did it?

God Bless.

Tyndale, you are arguing nothing but logical fallacies at this point . . STRAWMAN and RED HERRINGS

:)

The subject is not about Solomon's personal life.

The subject is the religious use of images . . .

I think you need to stop focusing on the "Solomon" part of "Solomon's Temple" and start focusing on the "Temple" part of "Solomon's Temple"

The subject we are now discussin is that of the multitude of IMAGES used in the Temple which God HALLOWED, CHOSE as a house of Sacrific, upon which HIS GLORY descended.

Obviously, God approves the use of Images in His house of worship.

:)

Trento brought some very important scripture into this discussion . . I wonder if anyone really caught it?

We are talking right now about the religious use of images in God's house and whether or not

1) it is appropriate to use them

and

2) is it appropriate to venerate them . .

and to answer those questions we have been turning to scripture.

Now, question 1 above has been answered in the affirmative as we see God approving and honoring Solomon's Temple by the very presence of His Glory, and Solomon's Temple was FULL of images.

Now, the 2nd question was answered from scripture in the affirmative as well, as we saw in Trento's post.

We see that not only is it perfectly OK to venerate/revere religious objects and images, WE ARE ACTUALLY COMMANDED TO DO SO! :

Leviticus 19:30 You shall venerate my sanctuary: I am the LORD.

Psalm 138:2 I bow down toward thy holy temple...

The temple includes all that is within it - including the multitude of images found within.

Hi TLF. There is no longer a Jewish Temple/Sanctuary to bow down to today, though I do not think any church today has much to worry about in that regard [except maybe by the Muslim extremists]

Hosea 10:8 Also the high places of Aven, the sin of Israel, Shall be destroyed. The thorn and thistle shall grow on their altars; They shall say to the mountains, "Cover us!" And to the hills, "Fall on us!" [Reve 6]

Psalms 138:2 I bow myself toward Thy holy temple, And I confess Thy name, For Thy kindness, and for Thy truth, For Thou hast made great Thy saying above all Thy name.

(Young) Leviticus 19:30 `My sabbaths ye do keep, and My sanctuary ye do reverence; I [am] Jehovah.

Why are you amazed?

Attacking the Catholic faith is a favorite pastime of some on CF.

.

And some attacking the protestant faith as well.

:D

I do not see these "statues" as "God" nor even a "god".

This isn't "Neptune" ladies and gentlemen, nor Lord Xenu. :sigh:

You keep on removing verses that are against your view, thereseslittleflower. These people may be harsh but they have to honour God.

"Aye, but don't turn it into a graven image of something in the sky."
???????????????
so is this a post agianst solar symbolism in religous art or the idea that Christ turns the elements of the eucharist into His flesh and blood?

I'm sure it's locked and loaded. I've seen this movie before, flip it over and play the other side.

in the begining of John light is used as a symbol of God, remember folks the sun is not God
remember folks the Son is God.
it gets tricky I know but I think together, with the the Holy Ghost as our guiding light, we can get out of this dark cave of ignorance
May God illuminate your hearts.
I should not be allowed to have so much fun

Tyndale, what does $$$$ have to do with anything?
Wow so lets do a little recap Peter=Jupiter, solar symbolism must be idol worship and filthy mammon has a role in all this.
Maybe you picked the wrong name, you could have been Hislop insted of Tyndale

I don't understand why sincere questioning of something that the RCC does should be considered "attacking" it. 1) If faith is weak enough that it offends to be questioned in it, it should be reexamined. 2) I often feel that many RCC have a percecution complex, that if anyone dare question what it is they do, they are being attacked.

I think it's a stretch to assign a command to venerate icons, based on this arguement. First, it speaks of the temple, as the house of God, not the statues or icons within it. Secondly, we aren't talking about the temple anyways.

Uphill I am sure they were not refering to you, your origenal question was ok, did you ever go to a real Catholic bookstore, one connected to a cathedral or mission or catholic school? I really think you should, the place you described seemed a little odd from your description.
